Thiago Tavares Injures Knee, Withdraws From UFC 103 Fight With Jim Miller

A knee injury has forced Thiago Tavares to withdraw from his lightweight matchup against Jim Miller, which was scheduled for the UFC 103 preliminary card on September 19 in Dallas.

Though the severity of the injury, which was first reported by MMAjunkie, is not yet known, it is expected to require surgery and will sideline Tavares for the immediate future.

Jim Miller vs. Thiago Tavares Announced for UFC 103 on September 19

A lightweight matchup between Jim Miller and Thiago Tavares has been added to the preliminary card for UFC 103, which takes place on September 19 in Dallas, Texas, the UFC recently announced.

Miller (14-2) defeated Mac Danzig in July in his most-recent bout, while Tavares (14-3) is coming off a January win over Manny Gamburyan.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has issued medical suspensions to five UFC 94 participants, including BJ Penn, for various injuries suffered in their bouts Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
