Shine 2: American Top Team vs. The World

UFC veterans Roan Carneiro and Yves Edwards were both victorious at Friday’s  “Shine 2: American Top Team vs. The World” event, which took place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. Representing ATT, Carneiro topped Jorge Patino in the headliner, while Edwards submitted James Warfield in the second-round in the co-main event. ATT went 4-0 on the card, as Luiz Firmino and Micah Miller also earned victories.

XFC 9: Evolution

War Machine, a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 6 formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver, stopped Mikey Gomez with strikes in the third-round of the XFC 9 main event at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. Also on the HDNet-televised card, Pablo Alfonso won the XFC bantamweight title with a fourth-round submission of Jason Goodall.

Vendetta FC: A Night of Vengeance

Minnesota Martial Arts Academy product Derrick Noble topped veteran Shonie Carter in the main event of Saturday’s Vendetta FC: A Night of Vengeance card, which took place Oranjestad, Aruba. The event also featured a eight-man tournament won by Rodney Wallace with a finals victory over The Ultimate Fighter 8’s Antwain Britt.

• Current Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le is leaning more towards an acting career and less towards fighting, according to a recent interview.
• CB Dollaway has stated that he did not “fully commit to the tap” regarding his stinging TUF 7 finale loss to Amir Sandollah.
• Last week UFC veteran Matt Hughes settled out of court on “battery and assault” charges, which stem from an incident that transpired nearly two years ago at UFC 64.

• MMA journeyman Shonie Carter said in a recent interview that his stint on “The Iron Ring” has helped to get “people knowing the minorities in MMA.”
• Affliction has revealed that they are planning events for October and February.
• Paul “Semtex” Daley will return to competition following a six-month retirement to take on Bojan “Zelva” Kosednar at Cage Warriors “Enter the Rough House 7″
• Despite losing her professional debut and suffering a broken jaw that will require surgery, the AFL remains interested in signing Kim Couture to bolster its Women’s division.
• Ken Shamrock’s nephew, lightweight Jeff Shamrock, has signed with Strikeforce.

Extroverted welterweight Shonie Carter has withdrawn from a co-featured bout against Luke Stewart at Strikeforce “Melendez vs. Thomson” on June 27 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Strikeforce middleweight Joe Riggs has agreed to step into the vacant slot on a week’s notice. The bout will be contested at a catch-weight of 178 pounds, confirmed Strikeforce representative Mike Afromowitz.

Carter told Sherdog.com that he shattered a knuckle in his hand while training and was fearful he wouldn’t pass the California State Athletic Commission’s physical examination next week to proceed with the bout.

In other Strikeforce news, MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Elaina Maxwell will face Miesha Tatein in a female bout at the June 27th event.

“Mr. International” last fought in the UFC in late-2006, losing via unanimous decision to Marcus Davis at UFC Fight Night 7. His record inside the octagon is 3-3.
