Strikeforce’s December 19th is beginning to shape up, fighters already rumored for the event include Robbie Lawler, and Scott Smith. Now joining them is a proposed middleweight match up between Matt Lindland and Ronald “Jacare” Souza, and the promotional debut of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal against an as yet unknown opponent.

Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem, who has yet to fight again for the promotion since winning the title in November 2007, returned to MMA action overseas over the weekend, dominating Tony Sylvester at Ultimate Glory 11 in Amsterdam, Netherlands before finishing the fight with a guillotine choke in just 83-seconds. Overeem will fight again this weekend at DREAM 12 against James Thomson before he’s expected to return to Strikeforce to defend the title.

Middleweights Joey Villasenor and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, who meet in the headliner of Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers event at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington, successfully made weight on Thursday along with the event’s 20 other fighters, including Tim Kennedy, Nick Thompson, Jorge Gurgel, Shayna Baszler, and Sarah Kaufman.

Strikeforce has now made another contribution to the world of MMA, particularly women’s MMA. Strikeforce is already the largest promoter to feature female fights. They have also given women the first North American headlining slot with Gina Carano vs. Christiane “Cyborg” Santos on August 15. Now they have added to that list the first two female bouts to be contested with five minute rounds.

Strikeforce has finalized the card for it’s next event, a “Strikeforce Challengers” set for June 19 in Kent, Washington. Headlining will be “Smokin” Joey Villasenor taking on Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos in a middleweight bout, with possible future title implications.

Previously unbeaten hometown favorite Billy Evangelista lost by disputed, controversial second-round disqualification to Mike Aina Friday in the main event of the inaugural Strikeforce Challengers telecast on SHOWTIME. At the finish, neither fighter was satisfied with the outcome at the Save Mart Center.

Weigh-ins for ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers 1, Bellator 7, and MFC 21: Hard Knocks took place on Thursday ahead of tonight's fight cards. Complete weigh-in results, which include notables Bobby Lashley, Trevor Prangley, and Billy Evangelista, are available after the jump.

Undefeated power puncher Sarah Kaufman (8-0) will fill the void left by Kim “Sugar Free” Couture and throw down with fellow rising star Miesha Tate (6-1) in a 135-pound contest during the SHOWTIME televised portion of the inaugural Strikeforce Challengers mixed martial arts (MMA) event at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., on Friday, May 15.

Hector Lombard (16-2-1) will make his EliteXC debut on November 8th at EliteXC “A Night of Champions” in Reno, Nevada against EliteXC middleweight contender Scott Smith (13-5).
