Headliner Gina Carano was the top earner at Saturday’s Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg event in San Jose, receiving $125,000 for her main event loss to Cris “Cyborg” Santos, who earned $25,000 for the first-round TKO victory.
Renato “Babalu” Sobral ($70,000), Jay Hieron ($55,000), Gilbert Melendez ($50,000), and Fabricio Werdum ($50,000) were also among the top earners for the event, according to the official fighter salaries released by the California State Athletic Commission on Tuesday.

Sobral had initially been rumored to be facing off against Rafael Feijao in May, but then was later announced for June 6th. Since that time it has been confirmed that Sobral's child is expected to be born on May 24th, forcing the fighter to withdraw from the event.

Strikeforce today announced that Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth will put his 205-pound title on the line against Renato “Babalu” Sobral in the main event of Strikeforce “Destruction” at the HP Pavilion in San Jose on November 21st.

Renato “Babalu” Sobral has undergone successful surgery on his injured knee which on Wednesday knocked him out of his “Strikeforce at the Mansion 2″ bout against Anthony Ruiz.
The former UFC 205-pound contender could return to action by as early as November.
