Kyle Kingsbury vs. Razak Al-Hassan Postponed from UFC 102

A bout between light heavyweights Kyle Kingsbury (7-2) and Razak Al-Hassan (7-1) has been postponed from UFC 102 in late-August and will instead take place later in the year.

MMAjunkie is reporting that an elbow injury suffered by Al-Hassan in his December loss to Steve Cantwell was unlikely to be healed in time for the August date. The matchup will remain intact, but will be shifted to a fall event.

Kingsbury, a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 8, suffered a unanimous decision loss to Tom Lawlor in December at The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale in his official Octagon debut. He was defeated by Krzysztof Soszynski in the first round of the UFC reality series.

Al-Hassan’s gruesome armbar submission loss to Cantwell came in his promotional debut at UFC Fight for the Troops. He had previously won all seven of his professional fights.

Corey Hill Undergoes Surgery on Broken Leg, Out For Up To 18 Months

UFC lightweight Corey Hill underwent successful surgery on Thursday to repair a broken leg suffered the night before in a loss against Dale Hartt at UFC Fight Night 16 “UFC Fight for the Troops” at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

UFC.com reported the development late Thursday, adding that Hill is expected to be out of action for up to 18 months but is “handling the injury well and is in good spirits”.

The report also offered updates on several other fighters who sustained injuries during Wednesday’s action. Razak Al-Hassan did not suffer a broken arm in his submission loss to Steve Cantwell but did sustain a dislocated elbow and was treated and released from the hospital. Yoshiyuki Yoshida was treated and released for a concussion stemming from his knockout loss to Josh Koscheck. Jonathan Goulet was also treated and released for a concussion suffered in his loss to Mike Swick, though Goulet also suffered a knee injury that will be further evaluated in his native Canada.

UFC Fight Night 16: UFC Fight for the Troops welterweight headliners Josh Koscheck (171) and Yoshiyuki Yoshida (171) successfully weighed in for their main event bout today at the Sports USA Bar near Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

The remainder of the ten-bout, Spike TV-broadcast card also successfully made weight, including main event participants Jonathan Goulet (171) and Mike Swick (171), Razak Al-Hassan (205) and Steve Cantwell (206), and Matt Wiman (156) and Jim Miller (156).

The event, which will serve as a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, takes place at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Welterweights Josh Koscheck and Yoshiyuki Yoshida will clash in the main event of UFC Fight Night 16 “UFC Fight For The Troops” on December 10th at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Spike TV, which will broadcast the event beginning at 9pm ET, yesterday announced an updated lineup for the event, which will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Steve Cantwell vs. Razak Al-Hussan Likely For UFC Fight Night 16

UFC newcomer Razak Al-Hussan (5-0) is likely to meet Steve Cantwell (6-1) at UFC Fight Night 16 on December 10th in North Carolina, according to MMA Junkie.

Cantwell was originally booked to rematch Marine veteran and former WEC champion Brian Stann at the “UFC Fight for the Troops” event, but Stann was recently forced to withdraw from the bout due to a broken foot. Now, it appears Cantwell may remain on the card after all to battle the undefeated newcomer Al-Hussan at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville.

After losing his first encounter with Stann in just 41-seconds, Cantwell has strung together three-straight wins, including winning the WEC 205-pound championship with a second-round TKO of Stann in their most recent meeting in August.

Hussan, who has been fighting professionally for less than two years, has won all five of his professional bouts dating back to February 2007. He was last in action in September, defeating Andrew Force via submission just 45-seconds into their bout at Extreme Challenge 107.

The UFC has officially announced UFC Fight Night 15, which will take place on September 17th at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska. The UFC Fight Club presale begins on Wednesday, July 16th. Tickets start at just $35.
The UFC has reached an agreement with Japanese broadcaster WOWOW to broadcast UFC events on the premium television channel beginning in August.
In collaboration with IFC Caged Combat, the producers of Deadliest Catch, Axemen, and Ice Road Truckers are seeking MMA fighters in all weight classes for paid trials for a new MMA reality show which is tentatively scheduled for a fall debut on a major network. IFL veteran Bart Palaszewski (28-11) will return to action on August 9th at Xtreme Fighting Organization 25 in Illinois against an opponent to-be-announced.
Bodog Fight veteran Steve Steinbeiss (4-1) will take on Mark Munoz (4-0) in a light heavyweight bout at WEC 36 on September 10th.
Razak Al-Hussan (5-0) will replace Thomasz Drwal against fellow UFC newcomer Andre Gusmao at UFC 87 on August 9th in Minnepolis, Minnesota. Drawl withdrew from the bout against Gusmao for undisclosed reasons.
As MMAFrenzy.com previously speculated, a bout between Ultimate Fighter 7 cast members Tim Credeur and Cale Yarbrough, which was originally set to take place at The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale, has now been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19th.
Icon Sport has officially announced it’s next event, “Hard Times”, which will take place on August 2nd at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. As we previously reported, Kala “Kolohe” Hose will meet Rolando Dominique in a non-title, catchweight bout at the event. Also at the event, Mark Oshiro and Bao Quach will clash for the promotion’s 140-pound North American title, Ross Ebanez will take on Keoni Bryant for the Icon Sport 170-pound Hawaiian championship, and Phil Baroni will fight Ron Verdadero.
