Couture-Vera Official to Headline UFC 105 in November

A previously-reported light heavyweight matchup between Randy Couture and Brandon Vera was made official on Monday to headline UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England. The Spike TV-televised event also includes Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang and Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim, as well as TUF 9 winner James Wilks and Ross Pearson.

Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera To Headline UFC 105

Following weeks of searching and speculation, it appears that the UFC has finally secured a main event for UFC 105 in Manchester, England. A light heavyweight matchup between Randy Couture and Brandon Vera is in the process of being booked for the event, according to BloodyElbow.

Negotiations to have middleweight contenders Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt meet in the headliner have stalled, while a matchup between Matt Hughes and middleweight champ Anderson Silva also fell through for the November 14 event.

UFC 102 Medical Suspensions: Herman Sidelined Indefinitely With Knee Injury

Twelve of the twenty-two UFC 102 fighters in action at Saturday’s event in Portland have been issued medical suspensions by the Oregon State Athletic Commission stemming from their bouts.

The longest suspension was dolled out to Portland-native Ed Herman, who is sidelined indefinitely from a fight-ending knee injury, while headliners Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Randy Couture were both issued 30 day precautionary suspensions.

UFC 102 Fighter Salaries: Nogueira and Couture Top Earners

Headliners Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Randy Couture were the top earners at Saturday’s UFC 102 event in Portland, according to figures released by the Oregon State Athletic Commission.

Nougiera, who defeated Couture by unanimous decision in the evening’s main event, earned $400,000 for the victory, while Couture received $250,000 in the loss. The disclosed payroll for the pay-per-view event was $1,285,000.

Randy Couture Signs Six-Fight Extension With the UFC, Light Heavyweight Return Possible

Former five-time UFC champion Randy Couture and UFC President Dana White announced after Saturday’s “UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira” event in Portland, Oregon that Couture had signed a 28-month, six-fight extension with the promotion to finish out his MMA career inside the Octagon.

With the decision left in his hands, Couture appeared open to returning to 205-pounds, where showdowns with champ Lyoto Machida and middleweight title-holder Anderson Silva could be on the horizon, along with possible rematches against Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Randy Couture, Nate Marquardt, and Jake Rosholt each earned $60,000 “fight night” bonuses at Saturday’s UFC 102 event at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon, UFC President Dana White announced at the post-fight press conference.

“Fight of the Night” honors went to Nogueira and Couture, Marquardt was awarded “Knockout of the Night”, and Rosholt picked up “Submission of the Night”.

UFC 102 Weigh-In Results: All Fighters Make Weight

All 22 UFC 102 fighters, including heavyweight headliners Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, successfully made weight on Friday at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon, the same venue which hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view event.

Couture, the 46-year-old UFC hall of famer and former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, weighed in at 220-pounds, while the former UFC and PRIDE title-holder Nogueira tipped the scale at 231-pounds.
