A middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares scheduled for the main card of UFC 118 on August 28 has been moved to the main event of UFC Fight Night 22 on September 15.

It is not yet known whether Maia will remain on the UFC Fight Night 22 fight card or what fight will fill the spot of Marquardt-Palhares on the UFC 118 fight card.

The UFC’s long awaited Boston debut is finally official, as “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2″ was today announced for August 28 at Boston’s TD Garden featuring a main event rematch between lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and former title-holder BJ Penn.

After being left without an opponent when Alessio Sakara recently withdrew from a scheduled July meeting, middleweight contender Nate Marquardt will look to get back into title contention when he likely faces Rousimar Palhares at UFC 118 on August 28 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Resurgent middleweight Alessio Sakara has withdrawn from his rumored matchup with 185-pound contender Nate Marquardt that had been scheduled for UFC 116 on July 3 in Las Vegas following the death of his father. Marquardt is expected to remain on the UFC 116 card, though a replacement opponent has not yet been confirmed.

Middleweight contender Nate Marquardt will look to rebound from his recent setback when he likely returns against resurgent 185-pounder Alessio Sakara at UFC 116, while The Ultimate Fighter 10 runner-up Brendan Schaub is expected to face fellow heavyweight Chris Tuchscherer at the July 3 event in Las Vegas.

To hype the second installment of “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Hardy,” which debuts tonight at 10pm, Spike TV has released quotes from welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and challenger Dan Hardy, who meet at UFC 111 on March 27, as they continue their war of words. Also released were comments from Matt Serra, who upset St-Pierre in 2007 and is now training with Hardy, and GSP’s teammate Nate Marquardt.

13 of the 22 fighters in action on Saturday at “UFC 109: Relentless” in Las Vegas were subject to drug testing by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and all of the tests for performance enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse were negative, NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer today confirmed to MMAFrenzy.com.

11 of the 22 fighters in action at Saturday’s “UFC 109: Relentless” event is Las Vegas were issued medical suspensions on Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, including main card winners Chael Sonnen and Demian Maia, as well as losers Mark Coleman, Mike Swick, Dan Miller, and Frank Trigg.

Maia, Swick, and preliminary card fighter Mac Danzig were issued the card’s longest suspensions, sidelined until August unless cleared by a doctor for various injuries.

Headlining hall of famer Randy Couture and former welterweight champ Matt Serra topped the $944,000 payroll for Saturday’s “UFC 109: Relentless,” according to official fighter salaries released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Couture earned a flat $250,000 for his second-round submission of Mark Coleman in the UFC 109 headliner, while Serra scored $150,000 for his first-round knockout of fellow veteran Frank Trigg. Other top earners included middleweight contender Chael Sonenn, Demian Maia, and Coleman.

Chael Sonnen, Nate Marquardt, Paulo Thiago, and Matt Serra each earned $60,000 “fight night” bonuses for their performances on Saturday at “UFC 109: Relentless” in Las Vegas. Sonnen and Marquardt took home “Knockout of the Night” honors, Thiago earned the “Submission of the Night,” and Serra scored the “Knockout of the Night”.

In the first-ever matchup between UFC hall of famers, Randy Couture dominated Mark Coleman before finishing him with a second-round submission in the main event of “UFC 109: Relentless” on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

In the UFC 109 co-main event, Chael Sonnen earned the next middleweight title shot by upsetting fellow contender Nate Marquardt, surviving a deep gash and a frantic final minute to earn a unanimous decision victory fueled by dominant wrestling and ground and pound.

All twenty-two fighters slated to be in action on Saturday at “UFC 109: Relentless,” including headlining UFC hall of famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman, successfully made weight on Friday for their bouts.

Both Couture and Coleman weighed-in at the 205-pound light heavyweight limit for the main event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, which hosts tomorrow’s pay-per-view event.

At Thursday’s pre-UFC 109 press conference in Las Vegas, UFC President Dana White announced that the winner of the “UFC 109: Relentless” co-main event between middleweight contenders Nate Marquardt and Chael Sonnen will get a title shot against the winner of April’s UFC 112 bout between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.

White also confirmed Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione for UFC 113 and Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz 3 for UFC 115.
