Gracie (3-0), a 2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt from the legendary Gracie family, is a one-time IFL fighter who’s improved to 3-0 in 2009 with back-to-back wins in Art of War in China, including a first-round submission of Peter Graham last month.

Al-Turk (6-5), a former Cage Rage heavyweight title-holder, has lost both of his UFC bouts, suffering first-round knockouts at the hands of Cheick Kongo in December and Mirko “Cro Cop” in June, though his latest loss was marred by a accidental eye poke that went unnoticed and setup the finish.

UFC 109 is expected to include Matt Hughes and Matt Serra squaring off against opponents to-be-determined, with the pay-per-view event also likely to feature Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller.

• Marcus Davis — Must have nose and face X-rayed and cleared by a doctor or suspension runs until December 5. Minimum suspension until Aug. 13 with no contact until July 29.
• Terry Etim — Must have nose X-rayed and cleared by a doctor or suspension runs until December 5. Minimum suspension until August 13 with no contact until July 29.
• Dale Hartt — Must have X-ray and MRI of left shoulder and must have a CT scan of his right orbit or suspended until December 5. Minimum suspension until August 13 with no contact until July 29.

• Stefan Struve — Suspended until August 13 with no contact until July 29.
• Rick Story — Suspended until July 14 with no contact until July 5.

“The UFC has said Mostapha will get another fight. It’s kind of one of those things that was confirmed, but we knew would probably happen beforehand as well, going into the fight on short notice and things like that. It’s a tough fight the UFC gave us. Both of the fights have been tough so far,” Al-Turk’s trainer Paul Ivens recently told MMAjunkie.

A Cage Rage veteran, Al-Turk suffered a first-round TKO loss to Kongo in December before suffering another first-round TKO defeat to Cro Cop on Saturday at UFC 99. Though all but elite-level fighters would likely be cut by the UFC following two-straight losses, Al-Turk accepted the bout with Cro Cop on just two weeks notice after originally agreeing to fight newcomer Todd Duffee on the event’s preliminary card and the bout was marred by a missed eye poke that setup the fight-ending flurry of punches.

According to the report, Al-Turk suffered a slight tear in his eye but no lasting damage is expected.

A date has not yet been set for Al-Turk’s must-win fight, which is likely to take place before the end of the year assuming his eye heals as expected.

• Joining Kimbo Slice and the previously rumored fighters on The Ultimate Fighter 10: Heavyweights, according to a rumored list of cast members that has circulated in recent days, will be Jim York, Justin Wren, Mike Wessel, Scott Junk, Zak Jensen, Darrill Schoonover, Jon Madsen, Tom Blackledge, and Abe Wagner.
• Andrei Arlovski has received a 60-day medical suspension following his first-round knockout loss to Brett Rogers at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields on June 6, which has forced his boxing debut, which was to take place on June 27, to be postponed. Rafael Calvacante, who suffered a second-round TKO loss to Mike Kyle on the event’s preliminary card, was also suspended for 60 days.
• The first UFC Gym, whose features will include an “Arm Bar” with snacks and drinks, is set to open in Concord, California.
• After making critical remarks about Miletich Fighting Systems following his UFC 98 wins, Drew McFedries has been kicked out of the gym.
• Urijah Faber has been medically suspended until December 4th after suffering a broken right hand in his WEC 41 loss to Mike Brown on June 7.
• Lightweight contenders Ricardo Lamas and Danny Castillo will meet at WEC 42 in August.
• Randy Couture will train and corner Gina Carano for her Strikeforce 145-pound title bout against Cris Cyborg on August 15 in San Jose. Tickets for the event went on sale today and start at just $30.
• During a Q&A session before the UFC 99 weigh-ins, UFC President Dana White said he’s interested in signing Josh Barnett if he beats Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction: Trilogy in August.
• At the post-UFC 99 press conference on Saturday, Wanderlei Silva called for a rematch with Rich Franklin after suffering a close unanimous decision loss in the UFC 99 headliner. Dana White, meanwhile, wants Franklin to move back up to light heavyweight for a run at the 205-pound title.
• The UFC will host an event in the UK in October and the promotion is planning to hold 2 events in Canada in 2010, Dana White announced during the UFC 99 Q&A.
• At the post-UFC 99 press conference, welterweight contender Mike Swick said he’d “love to fight Matt Hughes”.
• A UFC 100 viewing party will be held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on July 11 with Frankie Edgar and Matt Hamill scheduled as special guests.
• Weigh-ins for The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale will take place this Friday at 4pm PT (7pm ET) at the Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.
• Heavyweights Todd Duffee and Mike Russow are likely to fight at UFC 102 on August 29 in Portland, Oregon.
• Despite a planned appeal from Mostapha Al-Turk over his TKO loss to Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 99 on Saturday that was setup by an accidental eye poke, UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner announced on Monday that an appeal was not possible as it was a judgment call made by referee Dan Mirgliotta.
• Weigh-ins for Friday’s Showtime-televised Strikeforce Challengers event at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington will take place on Thursday at the venue’s Club Lounge and are free and open to the public.

Silva connected with heavy punches throughout the 195-pound catchweight contest, but Franklin countered with frequent kicks and punches of his own. Both fighters were hurt on multiple occasions during the three-round, 15-minute bout, but the frequency of Franklin’s strikes were enough to earn him the unanimous decision victory.

As was the case with all of the card’s unanimous decisions, the official judge’s scores weren’t announced, but the fight appeared to be closer than the unanimous scores indicated (MMAFrenzy.com scored the bout 29-28 Franklin).

With the win, the former UFC middleweight champion Franklin, who now competes at light heavyweight, improves to 25-4, while Silva, a former PRIDE light heavyweight title-holder who is moving down to middleweight, falls to 32-10-1 following the loss.

In a battle of heavyweight contenders, Cain Velasquez used his superior wrestling to dominate Cheick Kongo en route to a unanimous decision victory in the UFC 99 co-headliner. Velasquez, now 6-0 in his young career with four-straight UFC victories, should meet another contender in the 265-pound division in his next bout with fellow wrestling prospect Shane Carwin among his potential opponents. Kongo, meanwhile, must improve his ground game if he’s to climb back up the heavyweight ladder towards a title shot, as Velasquez easily secured mount and rained down ground and pound throughout the bout.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic successfully made his return to the Octagon at UFC 99, dispatching of Mostapha Al-Turk with punches midway through the opening round of their heavyweight fight. An accidental eye gouge that set up Cro Cop’s finishing flurry was the only blemish on the bout, but appeared to have little affect on the result as Al-Turk had been staggered with punches moments earlier. Unbeaten in his last four fights, Cro Cop improves to 25-6-2, while Al-Turk falls to 6-5, including an 0-2 mark in the UFC, and should soon find himself released by the promotion.

Mike Swick stopped Ben Saunders with punches in the second round of their welterweight contest on Saturday at the Lanxess Arena, lining himself up for a fight against a 170-pound contender, with the loser of July’s matchup between current champion Georges St-Pierre and Thiago Alves, Martin Kampmann, or Carlos Condit among the possibilities. Swick is now 14-2 on his career with wins in 9 of 10 UFC bouts, while Saunders drops to 7-1 with the first loss of his career.

In other main card action, Spencer Fisher spoiled Caol Uno’s UFC return with a unanimous decision victory and Dan Hardy won the biggest fight of his career by outpointing Marcus Davis via unanimous decision in the pay-per-view opener.

Surprisingly, the staredown between Marcus Davis and Dan Hardy appeared tame compared to the shoving matches that broke out between preliminary card fighters Roli Delgado and Paul Kelly and Denis Stojnic and Stefan Struve.

After weeks of speculation, the news is finally official – international superstar Mirko Cro Cop is returning to the UFC. One of the most feared strikers in MMA history, the 34-year old resident of Zagreb, Croatia will be taking on England’s Mostapha Al-Turk in main card action on June 13th’s UFC 99 card at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.

The 2006 PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix champion, Cro Cop (24-6-2) holds wins over Wanderlei Silva, Josh Barnett, Hidehiko Yoshida, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Heath Herring. And though he only went 1-2 in his first UFC stint in 2007, he is unbeaten in three straight bouts since then and is looking forward to making a run for the UFC crown his second time around.

Despite Cro Cop’s announcement of his return last month, the bout wasn’t officially announced until today as Filipovic had not yet officially signed for the fight. Contracts have now been finalized, allowing the UFC to promote the Croatian star in an attempt to boost ticket sales for the event, which had sold just 7,200 tickets for the 18,000 venue as of mid-May.

UFC 99: The Comeback is headlined by a catchweight matchup between Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva.

“I decided to fight in the UFC again, because of the stronger competition in the heavyweight division. My next opponent will be Mustapha Al-Turk. I didn’t do well in my first three appearances – I wasn’t myself. By returning to the cage I want to prove that I can still fight at highest level, no matter when or where. It’s hard to talk about concrete plans, but I would really like to fight at least three times this year. I wish to fight against quality opponents and to fight my way up to a title shot but for now, I’ll focus only on my next fight and after that we’ll see what’s going to be on the menu next. I want to say thank you Mr. Dana White for your interest and for an invitation back to the UFC. I owe you a lot from our first deal, and I’ll make it up to you.”

Since leaving the UFC following back-to-back losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo, Filipovic has won two-straight bouts, defeating Tatsuya Mizuno and Hong Man Choi at DREAM 1 and Dynamite!! 2008 respectively, while also fighting Alistair Overeem to a no contest after getting hit with several illegal groin strikes.

Al-Turk (6-4), a Cage Rage veteran who had been scheduled to battle Todd Duffee at UFC 99, suffered a first-round TKO loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 92 in December in his UFC debut.

The reason for Duffee’s withdrawal from the card has not yet been revealed.

• After undergoing a knee surgery following his UFC 92 loss to CB Dollaway, UFC middleweight Mike Massenzio will soon undergo neck surgery to repair several bulging discs that are causing stingers. He’ll be sidelined for six months to recover from the surgeries.
• A heavyweight boxing match featuring Tim Sylvia and Ray Mercer will headline Adrenaline MMA’s third event, which will take place on May 30th in Atlantic City.
• Sengoku Seventh Battle will air live on HDNet while DREAM 7 will be broadcast on the network on tape delay.
• Following his UFC 95 unanimous decision win over Troy Mandaloniz (which earned “Rude Boy” his release from the promotion), Paul Kelly will drop to the 155-pound lightweight division.
• Rory Markham fought (and ultimately lost) to Dan Hardy in the UFC 95 co-main event with a collapsed lung.
• Tickets for UFC Fight Night 18, which takes place on April 1st at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee and is headlined by Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann, start at just $20 with floor seats maxing out at a mere $200.
