Bisping and Kang clashed on the Spike TV-televised main card, with Kang taking the first round before Bisping recovered to score a second-round knockout and “Fight of the Night” honors for the pair.

Siver picked up “Knockout of the Night” for his second-round spinning back kick knockout of Paul Kelly on the UFC 105 preliminary card, while “Submission of the Night” went to Etim for his second-round guillotine choke of Shannon Gugerty on the unaired undercard.

UFC 105, which was headlined by Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera, drew a European-record attendance of 16,693, generating a live gate of more than $2 million.

Fighter salaries and medical suspensions will not be available for UFC 105 due to the absence of athletic commissions in the UK.

Couture, fighting at light heavyweight for the first time since 2006, edged Brandon Vera in the evening’s main event, battling through stinging body kicks to control the pace of the fight while landing occasional combinations to earn the unanimous nod.

Couture rebounded from back-to-back losses to improve to 17-10,  though he’ll likely need another win to earn a shot at the winner of the upcoming rematch between 205-pound title-holder Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua possible. Vera falls to 11-4 with the loss, snapping a two-fight winning streak.

In the UFC 105 co-headliner, Hardy stunned Mike Swick early then rocked him again in the second and third frames to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Hardy ups his record to 23-6 with the win, including four-straight inside the UFC to earn a shot at welterweight title-holder Georges St-Pierre early next year, while Swick had his four-fight win streak stopped in dropping to 14-3.

In other main card action, Michael Bisping rebounded with a second-round knockout of Denis Kang, Matt Brown scored a second-round knockout of James Wilks, and Ross Pearson earned a second-round TKO of Aaron Riley.

On the UFC 105 preliminary card, John Hathaway, Terry Etim, Nick Osipczak, Dennis Siver, Alexander Gustafsson, and Andre Winner all earned victories.

Tickets for UFC 105 are priced at from £40 to £250 and  and go on sale for UFC Fight Club members on Thursday, September 10 and for UFC Newsletter subscribers and MEN Arena Newsletter subscribers on Saturday, September 12. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Monday, September 14 and are available via ticketmaster.co.uk and the MEN Arena box office beginning at 10am.

Bisping and Hardy will be signing autographs at the MEN Arena box office from 5:30pm on Monday, September 14.

Bisping (17-2), who had been approached about fighting Wanderlei Silva in the UFC 105 main event before Silva recently underwent surgery to repair a deviated septum, is coming off a devastating knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 last month, his first loss since moving down to middleweight in 2008. The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner is 7-2 in the UFC, including recent wins at 185-pounds over Charles McCarthy, Jason Day, and Chris Leben prior to the loss to Henderson.

The former PRIDE and one-time DREAM fight Kang (32-11-1) was upset by Alan Belcher in his UFC debut in January, but bounced back with a unanimous decision victory over Xavier Foupa-Pokam in April in his most-recent fight.

UFC 105 is expected to air on tape-delay on Spike TV and will be headlined by a lightweight championship matchup between title-holder BJ Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez.

Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen. He’s undergone facial surgery, so obviously won’t be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he’s actually out for the rest of the year.

So as of right now, Im still unaware of who I’ll be facing at UFC 105. Obviously as stated before, when I know, you know.

“The rumors about Wanderlei fighting Michael Bisping at UFC 105 in Manchester or at any point are simply that, rumors.

For some publication to say they have been given an exclusive statement on this from Team Wand is not truthful. Certainly, there have been no formal proposals or discussions relative to this match-up.

Of course, there is speculation that such a fight will occur and certainly there remains a possibility of such a match-up. However, at this time, rumors of the fight occurring at UFC 105, are simply that.

This fight has not been discussed or offered to us by the UFC. Wand’s preference is to fight in February. He wants to take time off to heal his body and mind, and with his new gym in Las Vegas, he has business affairs and a growing team to attend to.

Wanderlei and his coach, Raphael Alejarra, have both expressed a preference that Wanderlei wait until February for his next match. However if at some point in time, such a fight is proposed by the UFC, it will be given the appropriate consideration, as do all proposals, and a decision will be made at that time.”

Though a fight between Bisping and Silva would likely do big business, and is surely the preference of the UFC and Spike TV, the US broadcaster of the card, it appears unlikely that the middleweights will battle in the UFC 105 main event.

MMA Bay, the website which originally reported the potential matchup and already known to be questionable at best, won’t be sourced by MMAFrenzy.com in the future, with many other websites expected to do the same.

A middleweight showdown between Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping is reportedly in the works to headline UFC 105, which takes place on November 14 in Manchester, England.

The rumored fight was first reported on Thursday by MMABay, which is one of the sponsors of The Wolfslair where Bisping trains, citing sources close to Silva’s camp in Las Vegas.

The former PRIDE champion Silva (32-10-1) has won just once in his last six fight and has a 1-3 UFC record since returning to the Octagon in late-2007. “The Axe Murderer” ended his PRIDE career with back-to-back losses to Mirko “Cro Cop” and Dan Henderson before returning to the UFC with a loss to Chuck Liddell. After a 38-second knockout of Keith Jardine, Silva has dropped two-straight to Quinton Jackson, and, most-recently in June, Rich Franklin. If confirmed, the fight would be Silva’s first at 185-pounds after previously fighting primarily in the 205-pound light heavyweight division.

Bisping (17-2) won 14-straight fights to begin his career, including UFC victories over Josh Haynes, Eric Schafer, Elvis Sinosic, and Matt Hamill, before suffering his first career loss to Rashad Evans in late-2007. The UK-star then dropped to middleweight, where he won three-straight over Charles McCarthy, Jason Day, and Chris Leben, before battling fellow-contender earlier this month at UFC 100, where he suffered a brutal second-round knockout loss.

UFC 105, which takes place at the MEN Arena in Manchester, is also slated to include UK fighters James Wilks and Ross Pearson, welterweight and lightweight winners on The Ultimate Fighter 9, as well as Terry Etim and  is rumored to air for free in the US on Spike TV.

“I am gonna kick someone’s backside in Manchester in front of my hometown crowd, then fight again as soon as possible and then rematch with Henderson,” Bisping told the Manchester Evening News. “That wasn’t the best of me in the ring in Vegas and I want another crack at him. I want a top fighter in Manchester, I want to get back up there straight away. That’s what I have told the UFC. I can’t wait to fight in Manchester again, it will be good to fight in front of my own supporters again.”

Welterweight James Wilks and lightweight Ross Pearson, British fighters who won their respective weight classes on The Ultimate Fighter 9 under the coaching of Bisping, are also expected to compete on the card.

No opponents are yet rumored for any of the fighters.

Mir, who suffered a second-round knockout to Brock Lesnar in the UFC 100 main event, must sit out until September 10 following the loss. St-Pierre defeated Alves by unanimous decision in the UFC 100 co-headliner but tore his groin in the process and must sit out until January 8 unless the injury is cleared by a doctor, while Alves remains suspended until August 11 for precautionary reasons. Bisping was suspended until September 10 after suffering a brutal second-round KO at the hands of Dan Henderson at the 11-bout pay-per-view event, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
