Goulet recently made the announcement on Facebook, writing that he’s “very angry and sad” that he won’t be a part of the historical event.

Goulet (22-10) had won three-straight bouts before suffering a 33-second knockout loss to Mike Swick at UFC Fight for the Troops in December.

A replacement has not yet been named to take on the undefeated Kim, who suffered a split decision loss to Karo Parisyan in January at UFC 94 only to have it overturned when Parisyan tested positive for banned substances.

UFC.com reported the development late Thursday, adding that Hill is expected to be out of action for up to 18 months but is “handling the injury well and is in good spirits”.

The report also offered updates on several other fighters who sustained injuries during Wednesday’s action. Razak Al-Hassan did not suffer a broken arm in his submission loss to Steve Cantwell but did sustain a dislocated elbow and was treated and released from the hospital. Yoshiyuki Yoshida was treated and released for a concussion stemming from his knockout loss to Josh Koscheck. Jonathan Goulet was also treated and released for a concussion suffered in his loss to Mike Swick, though Goulet also suffered a knee injury that will be further evaluated in his native Canada.

A cast member of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, Swick was eliminated from the reality series following a semifinals loss to Stephan Bonnar. Swick bounced back with five-straight UFC victories in the 185-pound middleweight division over Alex Schoenauer, Gideon Ray, Steve Vigneault, Joe Riggs, and David Loiseau but a loss to Yushin Okami in early-2007 prompted Swick to drop down to the 170-pound welterweight division.

Swick was to make his welterweight debut at UFC Fight Night 11 against Chris Leben but after Leben declined the rematch he was matched up against Goulet but was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a rib injury. Swick defeated Josh Burkman via majority decision at UFC Fight Night 12 in his 170-pound debut then took out Marcus Davis at UFC 85 in June to improve to 2-0 in the new weight class.

After starting his UFC career with a 2-2 mark Goulet left the UFC to compete in other promotions before returning to the octagon in a loss to Dustin Hazelett at UFC Fight Night 11. After earning a win outside of the organization Goulet posted back-to-back victories over Paul Georgieff at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale and most-recently Kuniyoshi Hironaka at UFC 83 in April.

UFC Fights for the Troops, also known as UFC Fight Night 16, takes place on December 10th at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The card is also expected to include Josh Koscheck vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Corey Hill vs. Dale Hartt, and Rich Clementi vs. TBD.

Jonathan Goulet, Kuniyoshi Hironaka, Jason MacDonald, and Demian Maia earned $75,000 bonuses for their efforts at UFC 83 on Saturday in Montreal, Canada. The bonuses for “Knockout of the Night”, “Submission of the Night”, and “Fight of the Night” were announced during the post-event press conference. The $75,000 bonuses set a new record for the hightest post-event bonuses ever given out by the promotion.

Goulet and Hironaka exchanged in a stellar opening preliminary bout to kick off the event and were awarded “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their efforts. Hironaka was strong in the opening round, rocking Goulet several times and nearly finishing his opponent before the first round came to a close. Goulet recovered during the minute break and returned with a flurry, rocking Hironaka before finishing him off mid-way through the round with series of strikes.

MacDonald was awarded “Knockout of the Night” for his second-round TKO of Joe Doerksen. Leading up the fight the pair traded jabs over their blogs and it showed with an intense preliminary bout that featured a back-and-forth opening round followed by a round two ground-and-pound knockout for MacDonald over his fellow-Canadian rival.

Maia took home the $75,000 bonus for his triangle submission of Ed Herman. After a close opening round Herman secured the top position in round two. Maia, though, would next secure a deep triangle choke which Herman unsuccessfully attempted to fight off. Maia then transferred to the top position and Herman was put to sleep before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
