Fitch (19-3), previously set to fight Ricardo Almeida at UFC 106 and rematch Thiago Alves at UFC 107 before injuries scratched both fights, reeled off a record eight-straight wins to begin his UFC career, Fitch had his 15-fight win streak snapped with a unanimous decision loss to welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre last August. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter has bounced back in 2009 with back-to-back wins over Akihiro Gono and Paulo Thiago.

Pierce (9-1), originally scheduled to fight Josh Koscheck at UFC Fight Night 20 in January before Koscheck was tapped as a late-addition to UFC 106, will be aiming for his seventh-straight win after upsetting Brock Larson in September in his UFC debut.

Alves recently suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament and will be out 3-4 weeks, likely returning to action in January or February.

Though Alves had sought to simply postpone the rematch until he was healed, the UFC will instead look for a replacement to fight Fitch at UFC 107, with Ariel Helwani telling MMAFrenzy.com that the promotion felt it wasn’t fair to make him wait further after he was bumped from UFC 106 last week.

UFC 107 is headlined by BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez and also features Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida, Cheick Kongo vs. Frank Mir, and Paul Buentello vs. Todd Duffee.

Fitch announced the news on Twitter earlier today, adding that he’d be getting “a bigger better fight” on a future card instead, but was unable to disclose his new opponent.

Former welterweight champ Matt Hughes fits the bill as a “bigger better” opponent, and he remains without an opponent for his February 6 return to the Octagon at UFC 109. With Fitch’s American Kickboxing Academy teammates Mike Swick and Josh Koscheck keeping the pressure on Hughes to fight someone from the camp, could Fitch be the first AKA fighter to get a bout with the future hall of famer?

Grove (10-6), the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 3, had won two-straight over Evan Tanner and Jason Day before suffering a unanimous decision loss to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 101 in August.

Rosholt (6-1) had his undefeated record snapped in his Octagon debut against Dan Miller in February, but rebounded at UFC 102 in August with a third-round submission of Chris Leben.

The UFC also confirmed on Saturday two previously-reported fights, Jon Fitch vs. Ricardo Almeida and Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett, which will be featured on the UFC 106 pay-per-view main card headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin and Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin.

Almeida (11-3), a veteran of PRIDE and Pancrase, returned to the UFC in 2008 with a first-round submission of Rob Yundt. After suffering a split decision loss to Patrick Cote, Almeida defeated Matt Horwich by unanimous decision in April and was expected to drop down from middleweight to welterweight for his next bout. However, the New Jersey-native was offered a middleweight fight against Kendall Grove on the main card of UFC 101 in nearby-Philadelphia and put his plans on hold, defeating Grove by unanimous decision at Saturday’s event.

Fitch (17-3), who had won 15-straight fights including a then-record-tying 8-straight in the UFC, had his win streak snapped last August in a unanimous decision loss to welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre. The welterweight contender, who trains out of American Kickboxing Academy, has rebounded in 2009 with back-to-back decision victories over Akihiro Gono and Paulo Thiago.

Almeida-Fitch, which is the first rumored bout for UFC 106, is expected to air on the event’s pay-per-view main card.

The UFC 100 fighters which were tested were Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, Georges St-Pierre, Thiago Alves, Shannon Gugerty, Jon Fitch, Dan Henderson, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Mark Coleman, Tom Lawlor, Jon Jones, Dong Hyun Kim, and Dan Miller.

All of the fighters except Mir and Alves, who co-headlined the event against Lesnar and St-Pierre respectively, were winners at the pay-per-view event.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the official fighter salaries on Monday for the pay-per-view event, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas in front of 11,000 fans for a $5.1 million live gate.

As previously reported, Lesnar received $400,000 to show with no win bonus for his second-round knockout of Frank Mir ($45,000) in the evening’s headliner. St-Pierre’s salary was comprised equally of a $200,000 is show money and a $200,000 win bonus for his unanimous decision victory over Thiago Alves ($60,000).

Dan Henderson ($250,000), Michael Bisping ($150,000), and Mark Coleman ($100,000) were also among the top salaries for the historic card, which drew widespread mainstream media coverage and could surpass 1.5 million PPV buys.

Remember, the salaries listed below are simply the figures the UFC is required to report to the NSAC and do not include sponsorships, ‘fight night’ bonuses, portions of pay-per-view revenue, which are received by top fighters such as Lesnar and St-Pierre, nor miscellaneous fees and taxes. For example, Lesnar, who officially earned $400,000, reportedly received more than $3 million from the UFC alone for his UFC 100 fight before his sponsorship revenue is included.

The total disclosed payroll for UFC 100 came in just shy of $1.8 million at $1,790,000.

Despite his dominant performance, Lesnar earned little respect from fans after confronting a still-dazed Mir in the cage before flipping off the crowd and belittling top UFC sponsor Bud Light in a pro wrestling-esque post-fight speech.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre retained the 170-pound title by dominating top-contender Thiago Alves en-route to a clear unanimous decision victory. St-Pierre, who neutralized Alves’ striking throughout the contest and used a series of takedowns to earn the win, will meet the winner of Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann in his next title defense.

Former PRIDE champion Dan Henderson likely earned another crack at the middleweight title currently held by Anderson Silva with a highlight reel second-round knockout of Michael Bisping. After picking Bisping apart during the first round, Henderson stalked the UK fighter in the second before connecting with a brutal right that collapsed Bisping to the canvas then followed it up with another huge right on the ground that left Bisping unconscious for nearly a minute before he staggered back to reality.

Jon Fitch and Yoshihiro Akiyama were also victorious on the main card, earning decision victories, while Mark Coleman and Jon Jones were the big winners on the evening’s preliminary card.

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar weighed-in exactly at the 265-pound heavyweight limit, while interim title-holder Frank Mir came in 20-pounds lighter at 245.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (170) and challenger Thiago Alves (170) as well as TUF 9 coaches Dan Henderson (185) and Michael Bisping (186) also made weight without issue.
