A broken arm suffered in his first-round knockout of Chuck Liddell at June’s UFC 115 will not require surgery and Rich Franklin could return to UFC action as early as December.

Anthony Johnson and Jason MacDonald also hope to return by the end of the year, while Ben Rothwell, Mike Russow, and Duane Ludwig are also recovering.

After undergoing successful surgery to repair multiple leg fractures suffered in a loss to John Salter at Saturday’s UFC 113, middleweight veteran Jason MacDonald hopes to return to action this fall and says he’ll be given another opportunity in the UFC following a disappointing end in his comeback with the promotion.

UFC 113 headliner and now-former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida received a 60 day medical suspension from the Quebec Athletic Commission after suffering a first-round knockout to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at Saturday’s event in Montreal.

Surprisingly, Jason MacDonald and Patick Cote, who suffered a broken leg and broken hand respectively in their UFC 113 losses, were issued just 7 day minimum suspensions.

Returning to the UFC for the first time since being released by the promotion one year ago, Canadian middleweight Jason MacDonald suffered a fight-ending broken leg and dislocated ankle in the opening round of his UFC 113 preliminary card matchup with John Salter on Saturday in Montreal.

Former welterweight contender Patrick Cote was also injured in his first bout in more than 18 months, suffering a broken hand in his second-round submission loss to Alan Belcher on the UFC 113 main card.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was crowned the UFC light heavyweight champion on Saturday after scoring a first-round knockout of title-holder Lyoto Machida in the main event of UFC 113 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

In the UFC 113 co-headliner, Josh Koscheck topped fellow contender Paul Daley in a disappointing unanimous decision to earn a title shot against welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and a coaching stint opposite GSP on The Ultimate Fighter 12.

All 22 fighters who will be in action tomorrow at “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2,” including light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and fellow headliner Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, successfully made weight at today’s official fighter weigh-ins at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Thales Leites earned a unanimous decision victory over Dean Lister in their headlining bout of MFC 23: Unstoppable Friday night at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the co-main event of the evening Jason MacDonald earned a controversial split decision over Solomon Hutcherson.

Fighters tipped the scales Thursday at the the River Cree Resort and Casino for the official weighins for MFC 23: Unstoppable. All fighters made weight including middleweight headliners Dean Lister (185.5) and Thales Leites (185).

There are a lot of fights happening in the next two weeks, outside of the major promotions. Former UFC middleweights Thales Leites and Dean Lister will headline MFC 23: Unstoppable, a card that also includes Jason MacDonald and Solomon Hutcherson (the other half of “Team Dagger”). MFC23 will take place December 4th at 10pm outside of Edmonton, Alberta and will be broadcast on HDNet. In Sao Paulo, Brazil Pedro Rizzo vs. Valentjin Overeem headlines Bitetti Combat 5, which also features Murilo “Ninja” Rua, Jeff Monson and Tommy Speer. Also, in Amarillo, Texas Shark Fights 7 will be headlined by UFC and MFC cast off Trevor Prangley taking on Marcus “Money” Sursa.

Travis Lutter edged hometown favorite Jason MacDonald on Friday in the main event of MFC 22, earning a unanimous decision win in the matchup of middleweight UFC veterans that capped off the HDNet-televised event at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Canada.

In other notable action, Antonio McKee topped Carlo Prated by unanimous decision in the MFC 22 co-main event, while John Alessio stopped Luigi Fioravanti with strikes in the third round of their featured bout.

Lightweight challenger Carlo Prater missed weight at Thursday’s weigh-ins for MFC 22, weighing in at 158-pounds for his 155-pound championship matchup against Antonio McKee. The bout, which co-headlines Friday’s HDNet-televised event at the River Cree Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is now a three-round, non-title fight.

The rest of the 10-fight card, including headliners Jason MacDonald and Travis Lutter, successfully made weight.

The MFC 22 headlining bout will be match up between two top grapplers, as Jason MacDonald will look to topple Travis Lutter. Also on the card, Antonio McKee will take on Carlo Prater for the MFC lightweight belt, and Luigi Fioravanti will face John Alessio.

Headlining Arena Rumble is a match up between Jason Guida and Jeremy Horn. Other notables in action on the card include Trevor Prangley, Brad Imes, Terry Martin, and Lyle Beerbohm.

A plea deal by Jeff Monson on charges of painting graffiti on the Washington Capital could force him to withdraw from several scheduled fight abroad, while a trio of bouts has been added to the lineup for the September 2 WEC 43 event in Youngstown, Ohio.
