According to the report, Slice and Alexander were to meet at the 205-pound light heavyweight limit, but Slice, who weighed in around 230 pounds for his TUF 10 loss to Roy Nelson, was unable to reach the mark, and they’ve instead agreed to the heavyweight catchweight.

The UFC has yet to announce the fight, which will be featured on the Spike TV-televised main card, and likely won’t do so until the conclusion of the season.

Alexander (9-4), a loser of three-straight UFC fights, returns to the Octagon after getting back on track outside the promotion with a knockout of one-time UFC fighter Sherman Pendergarst in September. Prior to his three-fight skid, “The Assassin” scored back-to-back knockouts of Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara to begin his UFC career.

Slice (3-1), a cast member on TUF 10, suffered a second-round TKO to Roy Nelson in the season’s opening round, but will make his official UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale.

With the fight still unannounced, it is not yet known whether Slice will move down to 205 for the contest or whether Alexander, who has competed exclusively at light heavyweight in the UFC, will move up to heavyweight for the matchup.

The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale also features Jon Jones vs. Matt Hamill and Frankie Edgar vs. Kurt Pellegrino, as well as the finals of the season’s heavyweight tournament.

Overeem is the current Strikeforce heavyweight champion, though he has yet to defend the title he has held for almost two years. Since winning the Strikeforce belt, Overeem has competed four times in MMA and three times in K-1, all in other organizations.

Overeem is also scheduled to compete just eight days after his bout with Sylvester at Dream 12, in the promotions much celebrated new white cage. His Dream 12 opponent is rumored to be Japanese fighter Makoto Kawawa.

Sylvester was last in action against Roger Minton at “ISCF – Bad Intentions,” where he earned a first round TKO victory. He has compiled an 11-2 record over the course of his journeyman career, including a win over recent Houston Alexander victim Sherman Pendergarst, and suffering his two losses to Tim Persey, and Chris Tuchscherer.

Alexander took the rare step of fighting outside the Octagon while still under contract with the UFC after receiving special permission from the promotion, dispatching of Sherman Pendergarst with leg kicks less than two-minutes into the opening round of their co-main event.

“The Assassin” debuted in the UFC in 2007 with back-to-back first-round knockouts of Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara, but would lose his next three-straight before getting back on track last weekend.

In a recent appearance on MMAjunkie Radio, Alexander said he’s likely to fight at UFC 107 on December 19 in Memphis, Tennessee, a pay-per-view event headlined by BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez, but that an opponent has not yet been determined for the fight.

Sylvia earned a first round knock out over the relatively inexperience Jason Riley. After peppering him with combinations and strikes in the clinch, Sylvia finally felled Riley with a left hand that led the referee to stop the bout.

Alexander also earned a first round knock out over his opponent, Sherman Pendergarst, though his was a little quicker. Alexander opened the bout with leg kicks, then finished off Pendergarst with a series of knees to the body.

An Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight from Omaha discovered a child left alone in an unlocked car, and sprang into action. Houston Alexander, a mixed martial artist stayed with the girl until she was safe.

The four year old girl’s mother has been cited for misdemeanor child neglect.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday, May 6th in Midtown, near 44th and Center.

According to the report, Alexander was in the area when he noticed a little girl, alone and crying in an unlocked Chevy Lumina.

He took the girl into a nearby dialysis center, but no one there knew who she was. Alexander then took the girl into the plasma center next door.

The girl’s mother was there, giving plasma. She told officers her cousin should have been watching the little girl.

Officers on the scene determined both mother and her cousin were donating plasma at the time the girl was alone in the car.

The mother was cited for child neglect. In an effort to keep the girl’s identity a secret, WOWT is not naming her mother.

Child Protective Services was notified.

Houston Alexander

Light heavyweight Houston Alexander has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 98 bout on May 23rd against Andre Gusmao after suffering a broken hand.

The injury was announced by the UFC on Twitter.

According to the tweet, a new opponent for Gusmao will be announced “quickly”.
