Update: St-Pierre and Hardy “Not Under Consideration” For TUF 11 Coaching Gigs

UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and top contender Dan Hardy are “not under consideration” to be coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 11, according to Heavy.com. Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that St-Pierre and Hardy could appear as coaches on the reality series, likely delaying a matchup between the pair from February or March until mid-2010.

Report: Georges St-Pierre and Dan Hardy Possible Coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 11

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and top contender Dan Hardy are under consideration to be coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 11, according to The Telegraph.

With a recent rash of injuries shelving many of the UFC’s headliners from early-2010 action, the news comes as a surprise as it delays St-Pierre’s return against Hardy from March or April to July or later, removing yet another draw from the promotion’s available roster for the first half of next year.

Under Armour Signs Georges St-Pierre to Multi-Year Endorsement Deal

Under Armour, the Baltimore-based leader in performance apparel and footwear, announced today it has signed Mixed Martial Arts Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre to a multi-year endorsement deal.

St-Pierre, the 2008 Sportsnet Canadian Athlete of the Year, will serve as the face of Under Armour’s Underwear, one of the company’s most popular items, and will be featured in its multi-platform media campaign beginning this holiday season.

St-Pierre Won’t Need Surgery for UFC 100 Groin Injury, Will Resume Training in Weeks

A groin injury suffered by UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in his UFC 100 victory over Thiago Alves on July 11 won’t require surgery, it was announced on Saturday, with the 170-pound title-holder set to return to the gym within the next few weeks.

“Evaluation of the results of an MRI indicate that no surgery will be required, and Georges should be back in the gym training within a few weeks after a brief rehabilitation,” read the announcement.

UFC 100 Fighters Test Clean for Steroids and Drugs

13 fighters from the 11-bout UFC 100 card, which took place last Saturday and the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, were tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for steroids and drugs of abuse and all of the tests were negative according to NSAC executive director Keith Kizer, who confirmed the results to MMAFrenzy.com on Friday.

The UFC 100 fighters which were tested were Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, Georges St-Pierre, Thiago Alves, Shannon Gugerty, Jon Fitch, Dan Henderson, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Mark Coleman, Tom Lawlor, Jon Jones, Dong Hyun Kim, and Dan Miller.

Frank Mir, Georges St-Pierre, Thiago Alves, and Michael Bisping were among the 13 fighters issued medical suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday following their bouts on Saturday at UFC 100.

Mir, who suffered a second-round knockout to Brock Lesnar in the UFC 100 main event, must sit out until September 10 following the loss, while St-Pierre, who defeated Alves by unanimous decision in the co-headliner, could be suspended until January 8 due to a groin injury sustained in the victory.

Heavyweight title-holder Brock Lesnar became the UFC’s undisputed heavyweight champion on Saturday in the main event of UFC 100 by avenging the only loss of his MMA career with a second-round knockout of interim champ Frank Mir to cap off the historic pay-per-view event, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre retained his title with a unanimous decision over Thiago Alves and Dan Henderson scored a second-round knockout of Michael Bisping in UFC 100’s other top bouts.
