Welterweights Matt Serra and Frank Trigg could square off on February 6 at UFC 109, according to Fanhouse, which reports that Trigg is the front-runner to fight Serra. The pay-per-view event is likely to take place in Las Vegas and is also expected to feature Matt Hughes.

Yesterday we reported that welterweight Frank Trigg would soon be cut from the UFC following his UFC 103 loss to Josh Koscheck. As it turns out, that will not be the case, and Trigg will indeed get another fight in the UFC.

With the UFC reportedly set to cut Frank Trigg following his unsuccessful return to the Octagon on Saturday, the veteran fighter is now likely to retire from the sport.

According to MMAjunkie, UFC President Dana White said following Trigg’s loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 103 that Trigg was unlikely to fight again for the promotion and Trigg says that if the UFC follows through with his release he’ll likely call it quits.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Monday released the medical suspensions for Saturday’s UFC 103 event in Dallas, with heavyweight Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic suspended indefinitely following his co-main event loss to Junior dos Santos.
