Marshall, who remains under contract with the WEC, will fight for the promotion on July 18th at PFC 9.

His opponent has not yet been announced.

“Rhino” has never fought outside of the WEC, debuting with the promotion at WEC 8 in late-2003. After winning four straight bouts over Anthony Fuller, Lavar Johnson, Anthony Arria, and Carlos Garcia, Marshall was handed back-to-back defeats by James Irvin and Tim McKenzie. Despite the losses, he next defeated Lodune Sincaid to win the promotion’s light heavyweight title. After successful championship defenses over Justin McElfresh and Ariel Gandulla, Marshall was defeated by Brian Stann via first-round KO at WEC 33 in March. All of his wins have come via first-round submission or knockout.

PFC 9 will take place outdoors at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino on Friday, July 18th in front of an estimated crowd of 4,000. Former UFC fighter Jake O’Brien will also be in action at the event.

UFC veteran Jeff Monson is rumored to be a possible opponent for Emelianenko’s debut.

Sean Sherk, Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Phil Baroni will all have steroid hearings on Wednesday in front of the California State Athletic Commission. Sherk’s hearing is especially important as the result will determine who BJ Penn will face for the lightweight title in December at UFC 79.

Top-ranked middleweight fighter Dennis Kang was defeated by Yoshihiro Akiyama in his HERO’S debut.
