Zaromskis was last in action losing to Nick Diaz at Saturday’s Strikeforce: Miami, while Tamura hasn’t been in action since defeating Kazushi Sakuraba at Dynamite!! 2008. [MMAFighting]

Several fights have been added to Sengoku Raiden Championship 12 which is scheduled for March 7 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. Former EliteXC 140 pound champion Wilson Reis will make his SRC debut against Yuji Hoshino. Also likely for the event, both Marlon Sandro and Leonardo Santos will look to return to the promotion at the event, against as yet named opponents, and Shigeki Osawa will face Kyung Ho Kang.

Former UFC middleweight David Loiseau, who was born to Haitian parents who had immigrated to Canada, has secured a charity fight to benefit victims of the January earthquake in Haiti. He will headline “Mixed Fight League 2: Battleground” against Isidro Gonzales, and for every ticket sold $2 will be donated to the American Red Cross to benefit their relief efforts in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti. Other notables on the card include Jon Murphy and Marvin Eastman.
Veteran regional promotion King Of The Cage and HDNet have announced a deal that will see monthy KOTC events aired live on the cable network over the next three years. The first event scheduled to be shown as part of the agreement will be the promotion’s February 12 “KOTC: Vengeance” fight card which features Tyler East vs. Tony Lopez, Rich Clementi vs. Anthony Lapsley, and Travis Wiuff vs. Mike Kyle.

Strikeforce: Miami, which aired on Showtime Saturday night drew 517,000 viewers, making it the second most watched MMA event on Showtime, trailing the Carano vs. Cyborg card which drew 576,000. The UFC counter-programmed the Strikeforce event by rebroadcasting December’s UFC 107 pay-per-view on SpikeTV, and drew 2.2 million viewers.

“Ring of Fire 37: Warlords” is set for Omaha, Nebraska on March 5th and will be headlined by Alfonzo Martinez vs. Demi Deeds. The fight card will also feature former “The Ultimate Fighter” contestants and UFC fighters, Junie Browning and Justin Wren.

Brazilian promotion, Vale Tudo Championships will be holding a Brazil vs. USA card on March 6 in Manaus, Amazonas which will be headlined by former WEC and UFC fighter Nissen Osterneck taking on Tigrau in a middleweight matchup. Also on the card is CFP star Tomar Washington, and the MMA Debut of Hawaiian surfing legend Kala Alexander. The full fight card can be found on the Vale Tudo Championships website.

Former UFC fighters Jason Day and Jesse Taylor will face off in the headlining fight of Edmonton, Alberta based Agression MMA’s inaugural event, which takes place Friday night at The Expo Center in Edmonton. A portion of every ticket sold to the event, as well as $1 from every online pay-per-view purchased will be donated to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. The online pay-per-view can be purchased on Aggression MMA’s website.

Shine Fights has recently inked multi-fight deals with veteran welterweight Nick Thompson, and Abu Dhabi champion Braulio Estima. Estima is an MMA newcomer, but defeated Andre Galvao and Alexandre Rebeiro in winning ADCC. At Abu Dhabi he competed at approximately 194 pounds, so it is unclear what weight class he will fight in for his MMA debut.

Following losses in his first two fights with the promotion, the UFC has decided to cut light heavyweight Razak Al-Hassan from their roster, according to Fiveouncesofpain.com. Al-Hassan entered the UFC undefeated, but lost via armbar to Steve Cantwell in his debut, and then dropped a decision to Kyle Kingsbury in his last outing.

MMAFrenzy.com learned this morning that more bouts have been announced for UFC 97: Redemption, which is to take place on April 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The event is to feature headlining bouts between Thales Leites and Middle Weight Champion Anderson Silva, as well as Former Light Heavy Weight Champion Chuck Liddell facing off against 2005 PRIDE middleweight grand prix winner Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

The added bouts include the return of one-time middleweight contender, and Montreal native, David “The Crow” Loiseau to face off against former TUF contender and Team Quest product Ed “Short Fuse” Herman. “The Crow” is on a three fight winning streak and hasn’t been stopped in almost five years. Herman was a highly touted prospect during his stint on The Ultimate Fighter, but has shown to be inconsistent in his UFC career, and suffered losses in each of his last two bouts.

Also added to the card, former World Extreme Cagefighting Light Heavyweight Champion Brian Stann will make his UFC debut against TUF 9 participant, and Team Quest product, Canadian Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 97. Former Marine Stann was expected to make his promotional debut against Steve Cantwell in December, but had to withdraw due to injury. Soszynski was dispatched from “The Ultimate Fighter” by Vinny Magalhaes, but went on to defeat Shane Primm via Kimura at the season’s finale event. Considering both fighters’ strengths and history one would expect this bout to take place mostly on the feet, and likely end in fireworks.

Other bouts booked for UFC 97: Redemption include a middleweight match-up pitting Nate “The Rock” Quarry against Canadian Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald and a lightweight tilt between Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts Mark Bocek and David Bielkheden.

Rich Franklin, apparently healed from recent surgery on his MCL, will take on Travis Lutter in Montreal on April 19th at UFC 84 according to The Fight Network. The Franklin-Lutter bout was originally scheduled for UFC 82 in March but was pushed back as a result of Franklin’s injury.

Original UFC owner Bob Meyrowitz, who owned the promotion from the mid-1990s until selling it to Dana White and The Fertitta Brothers in 2001, has signed a deal with Live Nation to created a new MMA promotion.

Jeff Joslin has been added to the rumored lineup for UFC 84 in Montreal according to MMA Weekly.

In a recent interview with Brawl Sports Dan Henderson sounds extremely confident heading into his March 1st middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva stating “[I'm going to ] kick his ass”.

In a recent post on MMA Junkie MMA agent Ken Pavia reveals both Richie Hightower and Jordan Radev have been released from theUFC. Radev will face Hector Lombard at Cage Fighting Championships 3 in Sydney Australia in February. Hightower has since signed with Palace Fighting Championship.

Clay Guida has announced that he expects to fight in the UFC again in March or April.

Matt Hughes’ HIT Squad MMA gym will open February 9th in Granite City, Illinois.

Diego Sanchez recently announced that he will not drop to the lightweight division and will continue to fight in the
stack 170-pound welterweight division. According to the announcement he will know the opponent for his next bout by February and the fight will likely take place in Las Vegas.

UFC President Dana White will be a special guest at a February 8th World Championship Fighting event in Boston. The event will be headlined by former UFC fighter Dan Lauzon, the younger brother of UFC fighter and The Ultimate Fighter 5 contestant Joe Lauzon.

UFC veterans Brad Imes and Diego Saraiva will both be prominently featured at Palace Fighting Championship 6 on January 17th.

The UFC’s sister promotion, the WEC, has announced its next event. The event, which will take place February 13th in New Mexico and air live on Versus, will feature three title fights. Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit will look to defend his belt against Carlo Prater, Lightweight Champion Rob McCullough will take on Jamie Varner, and Bantamweight Champ Chase Beebe will face Miguel Torres.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will take a prominent role in the upcoming horror film “Midnight Meat Train” according to reports.

Melvin Guillard announced in an interview with the Baltimore Sun that he will be leaving the UFC temporarily to fightseveral times at 170-pounds before returning in late-March or early-April.

Jon Fitch has singed a new contrat with the UFC for three additional fights and will face Akihiro Gono at UFC 82 in March according to MMA Mania. The contract likely indicates that a welterweight title shot could come later in 2008. Fitch, who is 7-0 in the UFC, had pushed for a fight against fellow-contender Karo Parisyan. That fight would have put the winner on a fast-track for a title shot but in booking this fight it likely means Fitch will need at least one additional win before fighting for the title.

Rich Clementi indicated in a recent post on The Underground that Kyle Bradley has signed with the UFC though no specifics were revealed.
