Fresh off the first loss of his career in January, The Ultimate Fighter 8 winner Efrain Escudero will return to action at UFC 114 on May 29 in Las Vegas against fellow lightweight Dan Lauzon, who seeks his first win inside the Octagon after an 0-2 start to his UFC career.

Headlining former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans took home an event-high $375,000 for his main event victory over Thiago Silva at Saturday’s UFC 108 event, according to official fighter salary figures released Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

UFC 108’s official payroll totaled $843,000 with other top earners including Junior dos Santos ($60,000), Silva ($55,000), and Martin Kampmann ($46,000)

Rashad Evans staved off a late comeback attempt from Thiago Silva and earned a unanimous decision victory on Saturday in the main event of UFC 108 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and fellow 205-pound contender Thiago Silva successfully made weight on Friday at the official fighter weigh-ins for Saturday’s UFC 108 event, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Paul Daley, who meets fellow welterweight Dustin Hazelett in the UFC 108 co-main event, was the lone fighter from the 10 bout card who failed to make weight, weighing in one pound over the division limit on his initial attempt.

Lightweights Cole Miller and Dan Lauzon are likely to meet at UFC 108 on January 2 in Las Vegas, according to MixedMartialArts.com, which reports that bout agreements were recently sent out for the matchup.

A back injury suffered while training has forced lightweight Dan Lauzon to withdraw from his UFC 103 matchup against Rafaello Oliveira, which was set for the preliminary card of the September 19 event in Dallas.

According to MMA Weekly, which first reported the injury on Monday, Lauzon will soon undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and establish a timeline for his return.

UFC President Dana White made several announcements during a Friday press conference, including confirmation that Vitor Belfort will be returning to the Octagon to headline UFC 103 against Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson is next in line for a middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva, and Tito Ortiz is officially returning to the UFC, likely facing Mark Coleman at the promotion’s New Year’s show.

Lightweight Dan Lauzon, the younger brother of fellow 155-pounder Joe Lauzon and the youngest fighter to ever appear in the UFC, will return to the Octagon on September 19 in Dallas at UFC 103, where he’ll meet newcomer Rafaello Oliveria.

On Thursday, Affliction officially announced the majority of the lineup for its August 1 Affliction: Trilogy event, which will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and air live on pay-per-view and HDNet.

Trilogy is headlined by a heavyweight matchup between top-ranked Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett.

Also confirmed for the pay-per-view main card are Gegard Mousasi vs. Renato Sobral, Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago, and Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron, as well as Paul Buentello, who is expected to take on the winner of a June 27 bout between Pedro Rizzo and Gilbert Yvel.

On Friday, Affliction officially announced its third event, "Affliction: Trilogy", which will take place on August 1st at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and features a main event pitting WAMMA heavyweight champion and top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko against challenger and former UFC champion Josh Barnett.

Lightweights Chris Horodecki and Dan Lauzon will clash at Affliction 3 on August 1st in Anaheim, California. The bout, which was originally slated to take place in January at Affliction: Day of Reckoning, was confirmed on Monday by MMAjunkie.
