UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who headlined Saturday’s UFC 104 event in Los Angeles, topped the pay-per-view event’s disclosed $922,000 fighter payroll, according to figures released Tuesday by the California State Athletic Commission.

Machida earned an event-high $200,000 for his controversial main event win over Rua, while “Shogun” received $155,000 for his efforts. Other top earners included Joe Stevenson ($94,000), Cain Velasquez ($70,000), and Chael Sonnen ($54,000).

The “Machida Era” was extended in controversial fashion on Saturday, as light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida was awarded a questionable unanimous decision win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event of UFC 104 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Cain Velasquez dominated Ben Rothwell in the UFC 104 co-headliner, while Gleison Tibau, Joe Stevenson, and Anthony Johnson also earned main card wins.

All twenty-two fighters who will be in action at Saturday’s UFC 104 event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles hit the scales today to weigh in for their bouts. Light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida (202.5) and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (204.5) successfully made weight for the UFC 104 main event, as did co-headliners Cain Velasquez (238) and Ben Rothwell (265).

Anthony Johnson, Josh Neer, and Gleison Tibau were the only fighters who failed to make weight, but their fights will go on as scheduled.

Ten fights are now official for UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun on October 24 in Los Angeles, as the UFC on Tuesday added eight additional bouts to the event’s official lineup, joining the previously announced main event between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua as well as a confirmed heavyweight matchup between Ben Rothwell and Cain Velasquez.

Heavyweights Chase Gormley and Stefan Struve are set to fight at UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles, according to Fighters Only, which reports that bout agreements have been signed for the matchup.

Gormley had been set to fight Ben Rothwell on the UFC 104 preliminary card, but Rothwell was tapped to fight Cain Velasquez on the UFC 104 main card after Shane Carwin was pulled from the matchup to headline UFC 106 against heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.

Following news earlier Thursday that Shane Carwin was being pulled from his UFC 104 matchup against fellow heavyweight contender Cain Velasquez to headline UFC 106 in November against champion Brock Lesnar, Ben Rothwell has been tapped to replace Carwin and take on Velasquez at UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles.

UFC President Dana White made several announcements during a Friday press conference, including confirmation that Vitor Belfort will be returning to the Octagon to headline UFC 103 against Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson is next in line for a middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva, and Tito Ortiz is officially returning to the UFC, likely facing Mark Coleman at the promotion’s New Year’s show.

A heavyweight bout between Ben Rothwell and Chase Gormley originally scheduled to take place on August 1 at the recently-canceled Affliction: Trilogy event has been re-booked and will now take place at UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles, Sherdog is reporting.

Both fighters will be making their Octagon debut at the pay-per-view card, which is expected to be headlined by light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

On Thursday, Affliction officially announced the majority of the lineup for its August 1 Affliction: Trilogy event, which will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and air live on pay-per-view and HDNet.

Trilogy is headlined by a heavyweight matchup between top-ranked Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett.

Also confirmed for the pay-per-view main card are Gegard Mousasi vs. Renato Sobral, Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago, and Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron, as well as Paul Buentello, who is expected to take on the winner of a June 27 bout between Pedro Rizzo and Gilbert Yvel.

Former IFL heavyweight champion Ben Rothwell (30-6) is set to square off with undefeated up-and-comer Chase Gormley (6-0) at Affliction: Trilogy on August 1 in Anaheim, California.
