Light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera will return from injuries and look to bounce back from losses in their most-recent fights when they’re expected to square off at UFC 125 on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

After suffering three facial fractures in a first-round TKO loss to Jon Jones earlier this month at UFC on Versus 1, Brandon Vera recently underwent surgery to repair the injury and will resume grappling in 6 to 8 weeks, but will not be medically cleared to spar for 4 to 6 months.

Heavyweight main card winners Cheick Kongo and Junior dos Santos earned the top salaries for Sunday’s UFC on Versus 1 in Broomfield, Colorado, according to the official salaries today released by the Colorado Boxing Commission.

Six fighters took home a higher salary than main event winner and top light heavyweight prospect Jon Jones, who earned $40,000 for first-round TKO of fellow headliner Brandon Vera, who received $60,000.

Duane “Bang” Ludwig suffered a broken ankle on Sunday in a loss to newcomer Darren Elkins at UFC on Versus 1, while headliner Brandon Vera sustained three facial fractures thanks to a crushing elbow by Jon Jones in the main event on the UFC’s Versus debut in Broomfield, Colorado.

Top prospects Jon Jones and Junior dos Santos continued to climb up their respective divisions on Sunday, each scoring first round knockouts at “UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones.”

Cheick Kongo and Alessio Sakara also earned victories on the main card of the UFC’s Versus debut, while wins by Clay Guida, John Howard, and Brendan Schaub highlighted the event’s preliminary card/

A light heavyweight matchup between Brandon Vera and Jon Jones, first reported in December, will headline the first “UFC on Versus” event, the UFC announced during Sunday’s WEC 46 broadcast on Versus.

“UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones” takes place on March 21 at the Odeum Colorado (formerly the Broomfield Event Center) in Broomfield, Colorado, a suburb of Denver, and airs live on Versus beginning at 10pm ET.

A light heavyweight matchup between Brandon Vera and Jon Jones, reported earlier Wednesday as the possible main event for UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31, is now expected to headline the UFC’s first event on Versus on March 21 in Denver, Colorado, according to Sherdog.

If confirmed, the card would take place 6 days before UFC 111 on March 27 in New Jersey and 10 days ahead of the Spike TV-televised UFN 21 event, which serves as the lead-in for the debut of The Ultimate Fighter 11.

After an injury forced Antonio Rogerio Nogueira out of a planned UFC 109 bout with Brandon Vera, rather than book a new opponent for that night for Vera, the UFC appears to have gone in a different direction. They are instead targeting a match up pitting Vera against Jon Jones in a likely headlining fight at the yet unannounced Ultimate Fight Night 21

A broken ankle has forced light heavyweight contender Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to withdraw from his UFC 109 main card matchup against Brandon Vera. Vera is expected to remain on the February 6 card in Las Vegas and the UFC is currently seeking a replacement opponent.
