Mizugaki vs. Yahya, Swanson vs. Jung Among Four Fights Announced for WEC 48 on April 24

World Extreme Cagefighting today added four bouts to the preliminary card of “WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber” on April 24, announcing Takeya Mizugaki vs. Rani Yahya, Cub Swanson vs. Chan Sung Jung, Brandon Visher vs. Tyler Toner, and Brad Pickett vs. Demetrious Johnson.

WEC 48, the promotion’s pay-per-view debut, is headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. former title-holder Urijah Faber, and also features lightweight champ Ben Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone.

WEC 45 Fighter Salaries: Benavidez and Cerrone Top Earners

Joseph Benavidez and Donald Cerrone, main card winners at Saturday’s WEC 45 in Las Vegas, topped the payroll for the Versus-televised event, according to official fighter salaries released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Benavidez earned $25,000 for his win over Rani Yahya, while Cerrone took home $24,000 for his victory over Ed Ratcliff in the WEC 45 headliner. Other top earners included Chris Horodecki ($12,000), Ratcliff ($9,000), and Yahya ($9,000).

WEC 45 Results: Cerrone Submits Ratcliff; Njokuani and Benavidez Score First Round Knockouts

It wasn’t pretty, but lightweight contender Donald Cerrone managed to remain in title contention on Saturday, putting two early point deductions for lows blows behind him by choking out Ed Ratcliff midway through the third and final round of the WEC 45 main event at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Lightweight Anthony Nkojuani and bantamweight Joseph Benavidez remained in the hunt in their respective divisions by scoring first-round knockouts on the Versus-televised WEC 45 main card, with Njokuani taking out newcomer Chris Horodeck while Benavidez stopped Rani Yahya.

In other notable action, Scott Jorgensen topped Takeya Mizugaki by unanimous decision and Bart Palaszewski returned to edge Antony Pettis by split decision.

WEC 45 Weigh-In Results: Cerrone and Ratcliff Set for Main Event; All Fighters On Weight

18 of the 20 fighters set to be in action tomorrow at WEC 45 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, including headlining lightweight contenders Donald Cerrone and Ed Ratcliff, successfully made weight on Friday at the official fighter weigh-ins for the Versus-televised event.

Both Cerrone and Ratcliff tipped the scale exactly at the 155-pound limit, but main card fighters Anthony Njokuani and Takeya Mizugaki each failed to make weight by one-pound on their initial attempts, however they were successful on their second attemps.
