WEC Makes PPV Debut on April 24 in Sacramento; Aldo vs. Faber Headlines

World Extreme Cagefighting will return to the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California on Saturday, April 24, for WEC 48, the promotion’s anticipated pay-per-view debut which will be headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. former title-holder and local favorite Urijah Faber.

WEC 48 will also feature a rematch between lightweight champion Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone as well as former featherweight champ Mike Brown vs. fellow 145-pound contender Manny Gamburyan.

WEC 46 Fighter Salaries: Urijah Faber, Mike Brown Top Payroll

Former featherweight champions Urijah Faber ($52,000) and Mike Brown ($38,000) topped the $272,000 payroll for Sunday’s “WEC 46: Varner vs. Henderson”, according to figures released Monday by the California State Athletic Commission, while main event winner and lightweight champion Ben Henderson earned $22,000 and former title-holder Jamie Varner took home $18,000.

WEC 43 Postponed; Rescheduled for October 10 at Location To-Be-Announced

World Extreme Cagefighting announced late Monday that it had postponed its September 2 WEC 43 card in Youngstown, Ohio due to an injury suffered by headliner Ben Henderson, who was set to fight Donald Cerrone for the promotion’s interim lightweight title in the evening’s main event.

The entire card has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10 at a venue to-be-announced and is still set to air live on Versus.
