The Nevada State Athletic Commission has issued medical suspensions to nine fighters who fought at UFC 98 on May 23 in Las Vegas. Main event loser Rashad Evans, who suffered a second-round knockout to Lyoto Machida, is suspended until July 23rd for precautionary reasons.

Headliners Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida and co-main event fighters Matt Hughes and Matt Serra were the top earners at UFC 98 on Saturday in Las Vegas. Evans, the former UFC light heavyweight champion who was defeated via second-round knockout by Machida, earned $200,000 for the bout. Machida received $140,000 for his main event victory.

Lyoto Machida became the new UFC light heavyweight champion on Saturday in Las Vegas, taking out title-holder Rashad Evans with a flurry of punches in the second round of their UFC 98 headliner to capture the 205-pound belt. Matt Hughes, Drew McFedries, Chael Sonnen, and Frankie Edgar also picked up main card victories.

With Houston Alexander sidelined due to a broken hand, fellow light heavyweight Krzysztof Soszynski has been booked to fight Andre Gusmao at the May 23rd pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

Light heavyweight Houston Alexander has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 98 bout on May 23rd against Andre Gusmao after suffering a broken hand. The injury was announced by the UFC on Twitter. According to the tweet, a new opponent for Gusmao will be announced "quickly".
