Fedor Emelianenko Signs With Strikeforce, Will Debut at M-1 Global Co-Promoted Fall Event

Fedor Emelianenko has signed a “historic, multi-fight agreement” with Strikeforce that will see him headline Strikeforce events co-promoted by M-1 Global. Strikeforce announced the signing on Monday, ending more than a week of speculation and negotiation that ensued following the collapse of Affliction’s MMA promotion late last month.

Fedor’s first Strikeforce fight will air live on Showtime this fall, with a date, location, and opponent to-be-announced.

A featherweight bout between former Affliction fighters Mark Hominick vs. Deividas Taurosevicius is in the works for WEC 43 on September 2nd in Youngstown, Ohio and a lightweight bout pitting EliteXC veteran Muhsin Corbbrey against Anthony Njokuani is also in the works for the Versus-televised event.

Sengoku 9 Results: Hirota Upsets Lightweight Champ Kitaoka, Kanehara Edges Omigawa To Win Featherweight GP

Mizuto Hirota upset lightweight champ Satoru Kitaoka via fourth-round TKO to become the promotion’s new title-holder at Sengoku 9 on Sunday in Saitama, Japan.

The Sengoku Featherweight Grand Prix also came to an underwhelming conclusion at the card, with Masanori Kanehara being crowned the first-ever Sengoku featherweight champ with a split decision victory over Michihiro Omigawa in the tournament final.

Josh Barnett’s Second Sample Also Positive For Steroid

A second urine sample submitted by Josh Barnett, who was to headline Affliction: Trilogy on August 1 against Fedor Emelianenko, has also tested positive for Drostanolone, the same anabolic steroid detected in his “A” sample which forced him off the card earlier this month and ultimately caused the event to be canceled and the promotion to be folded.
