    Heavyweight Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogeuria, the twin brother of interim UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, headlines the event against Moise Rimbon (13-7-3).

    Nogueira was to battle Vladimir Matyuskenko at Affliction: Day of Reckoning earlier this month, but with the event’s postponement he’ll instead make his Sengoku debut against Rimbon. After losing to Rameau Thierry Sokodjou at PRIDE 33, Nogueira has earned back-to-back wins over Todd Gouwenberg and Edwin Dewees. He also holds notable wins against Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Alistair Overeem.

    Rimbon, a member of Europe Top Team, is a veteran BodogFight and Sekgoku veteran who also enters the fight riding a two-fight win streak.

    On Sept. 8, Gracie was sparring when he took a hard kick to the ribs. After being examined by renowned physiotherapist Dr. Kevin Lidlow, who has previously worked with the British Olympic team, Gracie was diagnosed with an intermuscular tear to the intercostal muscle between the sixth and seventh left ribs.

    Gracie is currently undergoing physiotherapy, and Lidlow has advised the grappling kingpin that he should not train for at least four weeks, at which point he will be reassessed with the possibility of resuming light, controlled training.

    The opening round of the promotion’s middleweight grand prix is now set as UFC and PRIDE veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura will meet Paul Cahoon in the first round and Jorge Santiago will take on Logan Clark. Previously announced for the tournament were Yuki Kondo vs. Yuki Sasaki and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos vs. Siyar Bahadurzada.

  • World Victory Road on Friday announced that former IFL lightweight champion Ryan Schultz will take on Jorge Masvidal at Sengoku 5 on September 28th at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. In middleweight tournament bouts slated for the card Yuki Sasaki will fight Yuki Kondo and Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos will face Siyar Bahadurzada. Kazuhiro Nakamura and Jorge Santiago are also slated to participate the in the middleweight tournaments but their opponents have not yet been announced.
