UFC on Versus 1 Salaries: Cheick Kongo, Junior dos Santos Earn Top Payouts

Heavyweight main card winners Cheick Kongo and Junior dos Santos earned the top salaries for Sunday’s UFC on Versus 1 in Broomfield, Colorado, according to the official salaries today released by the Colorado Boxing Commission.

Six fighters took home a higher salary than main event winner and top light heavyweight prospect Jon Jones, who earned $40,000 for first-round TKO of fellow headliner Brandon Vera, who received $60,000.

UFC on Versus 1 Draws 1.24 Million Viewers

Sunday’s “UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones”, the UFC’s debut card on Versus, drew 1.24 million viewers, the sports network today announced.

Headlined by Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones, the event outdrew most Versus-televised cards of sister promotion World Extreme Cagefighting, including this month’s WEC 47, which drew just 373,000 viewers.

Guida-Gugerty, Gormley-Schaub Debut Wednesday on Spike

Clay Guida vs. Shannon Gugerty and Chase Gormley vs. Brendan Schaub, which took place on the preliminary card of Sunday’s UFC on Versus 1 event, will debut on Spike tomorrow night as part of a special “UFC Unleashed,” which airs at 9pm ET ahead of the final episode of “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Hardy” at 10pm.

Duane Ludwig Breaks Ankle, Brandon Vera Suffers Facial Fractures at UFC on Versus 1

Duane “Bang” Ludwig suffered a broken ankle on Sunday in a loss to newcomer Darren Elkins at UFC on Versus 1, while headliner Brandon Vera sustained three facial fractures thanks to a crushing elbow by Jon Jones in the main event on the UFC’s Versus debut in Broomfield, Colorado.

UFC on Versus 1 Bonuses: Jones, Dos Santos, Howard, and Guida Earn Honors

Jon Jones, Junior dos Santos, John Howard, and Clay Guida were each rewarded with $50,000 “fight night” bonuses for their performances on Sunday at “UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones” in Broomfield, Colorado.
