Koscheck, Johnson, and Nogueira Awarded UFC 106 Bonuses

Josh Koscheck, Anthony Johnson, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira were the recipients of the “fight night” bonuses for Saturday’s UFC 106 event is Las Vegas, UFC President Dana White announced at the card’s post-fight press conference.

Koscheck earned “Submission of the Night” by forcing Johnson to tap to a rear naked choke in the second-round of their UFC 106 co-headliner, while the bout also earned the pair “Fight of the Night” honors. Nogueira took home “Knockout of the Night” for his first-round KO of Luiz Cane in his UFC debut.

Forrest Griffin edged Tito Ortiz by split decision on Saturday in the main event of UFC 106 in Las Vegas, using a dominant third round to even their career series at 1-1 in the pay-per-view headliner.

Welterweight contender Josh Koscheck took out knockout artist Anthony Johnson with a second-round rear naked choke in the UFC 106 co-headliner, while Paulo Thiago, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and Amir Sadollah also won on the event’s main card.

Karo Parisyan Withdraws From UFC 106 Bout With Dustin Hazelett, Will Not Fight Again in the UFC

Karo Parisyan has withdrawn from his UFC 106 welterweight matchup with Dustin Hazelett just two days before Saturday’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas and will “not be fighting again in the UFC,” UFC President Dana White announced today on Twitter.

“Karo Parisyan has f***** over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again. He will not be fighting Saturday or ever again in the UFC,” wrote White. “Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh-ins again with a laundry list of excuses. Let the press ask Karo why. Let him explain.”

Spike TV to Air Davis-Saunders and Rosholt-Grove From UFC 106 Prelims on November 21

For the third UFC pay-per-view event in a row, Spike TV will air at least two bouts from the UFC 106 preliminary card on November 21, including Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders and Jake Rosholt vs. Kendall Grove.

Welterweights Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson have agreed to square off in the co-main event of UFC 106 on November 21 in Las Vegas, according to Sherdog.

Koscheck revealed on Twitter Tuesday that he’d be co-headlining the pay-per-view event, and while initial speculation focused on Matt Hughes, the knockout artist Johnson was ultimately tapped for the short-notice addition to the event.

Brock Lesnar’s training partner at Minnesota Martial Arts Academy and fellow UFC heavyweight Chris Tuchscherer talked to the Las Vegas Sun about Lesnar’s illness and his decision to withdraw from his November title defense against Shane Carwin, which has since been rescheduled for UFC 108 on January 2:

He actually practiced (Sunday) and thought he might be feeling alright. He said, ‘Wow, I think I’m doing OK today,’ (Monday) he got here and it was the same old stuff — fatiguing right away, not being all there.”

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Shane Carwin at UFC 106 on November 21 in Las Vegas due to an illness that has prevented him from training for nearly a month, UFC President Dana White confirmed to Yahoo! Sports on Monday.

According to a post by Carwin on Twitter, the fight has been rescheduled for UFC 108 on January 2 in Las Vegas, leaving Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin to headline UFC 106.
