According to MMAjunkie, Shield’s contract lacks a standard “champion clause,” that would have required him to stay with the promotion if he won, and he will instead explore his options, likely including the UFC, following his bout with Henderson.

Meanwhile, Mousasi told MMAjunkie he plans to sign a long-term contact with Strikeforce following his matchup with Lawal, which would likely be a seven-fight deal, though a win would automatically extend his current contract for one year.

“It’s not signed yet, but we’ve been working Randy now for a while. We’ve talked June, then we talked August and now we’re talking June again. I think we’re having problems with Randy’s scheduling. So I really don’t know what the plan is at this point.

“I’m at a point now where I’ve fought enough fights and it’s time for me to make a title run again and see where that takes me. That’s where my focus is Now. It depends on the speed of things. I would imagine I’ll probably end up negotiating one more contract before I retire. I’m looking at another two or three years of fighting.”

Franklin (26-5), who has five fights left on his current UFC contract, topped Wanderlei Silva by unanimous decision last June before suffering a first-round knockout to Vitor Belfort in September. He underwent abdominal surgery in January that was expected to keep him out of action until May.

However, Ortiz spoke to SI.com’s Josh Gross on Thursday to deny that he was injured and forced to leave TUF 11, and maintained that he’s still scheduled to face Liddell later this year, barring an injury to either of the former light heavyweight champions.

Though Ortiz was hospitalized earlier this week for a “bad” flu, the latest update is in line with previous news from UFC President Dana White, who said “nothing happened” to Ortiz, while Tito and Chuck separately confirmed the bout was still on earlier this week.

While not officially announced, Liddell vs. Ortiz is expected to take place at UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver.

UFC 114, which airs live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, coincides with the second UFC Fan Expo.

Jackson and Evans had been expected to settle their feud at UFC 107 in December, but Jackson’s role in “The A-Team” and brief retirement (which ended late last year) postponed the fight, before the pair formally agreed to headline UFC 114 last month.

“Rampage” (30-7), who lost the 205-pound title to Forrest Griffin in July 2008, is coming off back-to-back wins over Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine, while Evans (14-1-1) rebounded from loss last May to Lyoto Machida with a unanimous decision over Thiago Silva in January.

Catone (8-2) won his UFC debut over Derek Downey last February to improve to 7-0, but then suffered back-to-back losses to Tim Credeur and Mark Munoz before rebounding with a split-decision over Jesse Forbes in January.

Salter (4-1) made his UFC debut in January, suffering a third-round TKO to Gerald Harris to fall to 4-1.

UFC 113 is headlined by a rematch between light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and also features Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley and Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione.

Liddell has won both previous meetings between the former light heavyweight champs, scoring a second-round knockout of Ortiz in their first meeting in April 2004 before a third-round TKO ended their second fight in December 2006.

While reports suggested that Liddell could be pulled from his matchup with Ortiz to face Rich Franklin, who may be brought in as a replacement for Ortiz on TUF 11, UFC President Dana White denied the rumors and said the UFC was instead planning on Franklin fighting Randy Couture.

Liddell (21-7) briefly retired after suffering a first-round TKO to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in his most-recent fight last April, his fourth loss in his last five fights, but the 40-year-old UFC hall of famer has opted to return for at least one more fight.

Ortiz (15-7-1), who returned from an 18-month layoff in a loss to Forrest Griffin in November, won five-straight between 2004 and 2006 over Griffin, Ken Shamrock, Vitor Belfort, and Patrick Cote, but has failed to win since, going 0-3-1 with losses to Liddell, Lyoto Machida, Griffin and a draw against Rashad Evans.

Liddell-Ortiz was expected to headline UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver, but Ortiz was recently hospitalized with a “bad flu” and it’s not yet known if the illness could delay the matchup.
