Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem, who has yet to fight again for the promotion since winning the title in November 2007, returned to MMA action overseas over the weekend, dominating Tony Sylvester at Ultimate Glory 11 in Amsterdam, Netherlands before finishing the fight with a guillotine choke in just 83-seconds. Overeem will fight again this weekend at DREAM 12 against James Thomson before he’s expected to return to Strikeforce to defend the title.

Middleweight contender Dan Henderson responded Friday to a Yahoo! Sports report that he was close to finalizing a deal with Strikeforce, telling MMA Weekly that he hopes to return to the UFC but that he’s exploring all his options.

“I’m still hoping to come to terms with the UFC, until I heard this. And I will be exploring other options for sure, but I definitely need to make sure I get paid.”

Rising light heavyweight prospect, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is reportedly now a part of the Strikeforce stable of fighters. Sherdog says that Lawal will look to make his promotional debut in December, but will be able to continue competing in Japan, where he has made a big name for himself.

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou has now been named as Gegard Mousasi’s opponent for his previously reported non-title fight at November 7th’s “Strikeforce: Emelianenko vs. Rogers” event. MMAFanhouse reports that the contest has been submitted to Illinois’ athletic commission, along with the previously reported Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio Silva contest.

Heavyweights Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Silva will square off on November 7 on the CBS-televised main card of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers, which takes place at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois near Chicago.

Recently crowned Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has confirmed that he will be defending his title on the CBS televised November 7 Strikeforce event, at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The scheduling of the title defense was recently confirmed by Mousasi with m-1global.com, though no opponent has been confirmed.

Professional wrestler Bobby Lashley is likely to return to MMA action in Strikeforce later this year, as the heavyweight prospect and promotion are close to finalizing a multi-fight deal, according to Five Knuckles.

If signed, Lashley is expected to debut against Ron Waterman, possibly on Strikeforce’s November 7 CBS-televised card or a planned December event.

The WEC has announced four bouts for the preliminary card of its WEC 44: Brown vs. Aldo event on November 18, while two matchups between four MMA newcomers have been added to the undercard of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers on November 7.

Strikeforce announced on Saturday that it will hold a Showtime-televised “Challengers” event on November 20 at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas in conjunction with the Combat Sports Championships and X-Fights promotions.

In other Strikeforce news, heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum has been added to the lineup for the promotion’s November 7 CBS-televised event headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers, but his opponent has not yet been announced.

This comes just a day after MMAFrenzy.com reported that Taylor would be taking part in the event.

WWE star turned MMA prospect Bobby Lashley is reportedly in talks with Strikeforce to be a part of their upcoming November 7 CBS televised event. Lashley still has two fights left on his contract with Prize Fight Promotions, and was rumored to have a November match-up with Ron Waterman with the promotion. However, MMAFanhouse says they have reason to believe he will be making his Strikeforce debut on the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers headlined event, though no deal has been signed.

Herschel Walker, the 47-year-old former footballer who last week signed with Strikeforce, was a guest today on ESPN’s First Take. Walker took issue with UFC President Dana White’s comment that the “ridiculous” signing hurt the sport, challenging White to a fight during the appearance and declaring the he could beat any heavyweight from The Ultimate Fighter 10.

Walker, who is training with American Kickboxing Academy for his MMA debut, added that he hopes to fight before the end of the year, likely debuting with Strikeforce on Showtime in December.
