Fresh off his successful MMA debut on Saturday at “Strikeforce: Miami,” 47-year-old Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker is likely to fight again and could step back into the cage at Strikeforce’s April event on CBS. The event was expected to take place on April 17, but CEO Scott Coker said Wednesday that an April 24 date, opposite World Extreme Cagefighting’s pay-per-view debut with WEC 48 headlined by Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber, was “highly possible”.

Middleweights Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler topped the $469,600 payroll for Saturday’s Strikeforce: Miami, according to figures released Wednesday by the Florida State Boxing Commission, taking home an event high $100,000 each for their TKO victories over Marius Zomskis and Melvin Manhoef, respectively.

Other top earners for the Showtime televised event include maincard fighters Bobby Lashley ($50,000) and Cris “Cyborg” Santos ($35,000) along with undercard fighters Jay Heiron ($65,000) and Joe Riggs ($30,000).

Eight fighters who were in action at Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Miami” event, including all five main card losers, have been issued medical suspensions by the Florida State Boxing Commission. Marius Zaromskis, Marloes Coenen, Greg Nagy, and Wes Sims receive 30 day suspensions, while Melvin Manhoef, who suffered a come-from-behind KO at the hands of Robbie Lawler, must sit out 60 days.

Shine International has expanded the Strikeforce brand internationally, selling more than 70 hours of STRIKEFORCE’s MMA programming in six markets across Europe, Australia and Latin America. This includes 30 episodes and 56 hours of fights that have aired on NBC and SHOWTIME, respectively. Internationally distributed content includes upcoming live fights through February 2012.

Strikeforce middleweight Benji Radach hasn’t fought since suffering a third-round KO at the hands of Scott Smith last April, but had been expected to return to action this spring before recently suffering a torn pectoral that will sideline him an additional seven months.

Former UFC champions Pat Miletich and Frank Shamrock have agreed to fight later this year and the bout is likely to take place an an upcoming Strikeforce event in April or May, though the matchup has not yet been finalized.

“Strikeforce: Miami” took place on Saturday and included a come-from-behind knockout by Robbie Lawler as well as the successful MMA debut of 47-year-old former Heisman trophy winner Herschel Walker and Strikeforce debut of Bobby Lashley.

Just hours after the conclusion of Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Miami” event, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker sat down with MMA Fighting to discuss the next fights for champions Gilbert Melendez, Nick Diaz, and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, as well as heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley.

Nick Diaz was crowned the Strikeforce welterweight champion on Saturday in the main event of “Strikeforce: Miami” at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida, knocking out Marius Zaromskis in the opening round to win the title.

In other action, Cris “Cyborg” retained the 145-pound women’s championship with a third-round TKO of Marloes Coenen, while Herschel Walker, Bobby Lashley, Robbie Lawler, and Jay Hieron were also winners.
