Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled main event title defense at Strikeforce: Destruction on November 21st in San Jose against Yves Edwards after suffering torn ligaments in his toe.

“Big” John McCarthy will return to the cage on November 21st to referee Strikeforce: Destruction at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California.
McCarthy retired from refereeing in December 2007 following The Ultimate Fighter 6 main event between Clay Guida and Roger Huerta to become an analyst with The Fight Network. He resigned from that position in October amid reports of financial and business difficulties and he’ll now return to the cage to referee again.
