Karo Parisyan Withdraws From UFC 106 Bout With Dustin Hazelett, Will Not Fight Again in the UFC

Karo Parisyan has withdrawn from his UFC 106 welterweight matchup with Dustin Hazelett just two days before Saturday’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas and will “not be fighting again in the UFC,” UFC President Dana White announced today on Twitter.

“Karo Parisyan has f***** over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again. He will not be fighting Saturday or ever again in the UFC,” wrote White. “Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh-ins again with a laundry list of excuses. Let the press ask Karo why. Let him explain.”

UFC 110 on February 21 in Australia to Air Live on Pay-Per-View

UFC 110, the UFC’s long-rumored February event in Sydney, Australia expected to be headlined by Wanderlei Silva vs, Yoshihiro Akiyama, will take place in the afternoon on Sunday, February 21, but will air live in the United States on pay-per-view on Saturday, February 20, according to MMAjunkie.

UFC 105 Medical Suspensions: Headliners Couture, Vera Out 30 Days; Swick, Brown Among Five Suspended for 180 Days

The UFC has released the medical suspensions from Saturday’s UFC 105 event in Manchester, England, with headliners Randy Couture and Brandon Vera each receiving 30 day suspensions, while five fighters, including Mike Swick and Matt Brown, could be out up to 180 days for more serious injuries.

WEC 44 Results: Aldo TKOs Brown to Become Featherweight Champ, Gamburyan Tops Garcia

Jose Aldo became the WEC’s new featherweight champion on Wednesday with a second-round TKO of title-holder Mike Brown in the main event of WEC 44, which took place at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Also on the Versus-televised main card, Manny Gamburyan topped fellow featherweight contender Leonard Garcia by unanimous decision, newcomer Karen Darabedyan scored a split decision win over former lightweight champ rob McCullough, Shane Roller submitted Danny Castillo with a third-round rear naked choke, and Kamal Shalorus knocked out Will Kerr in the opening round.

Lyoto Machida vs. “Shogun” Rua Rematch Set for May 1 in Montreal

A rematch between UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will headline a May 1 UFC event in Montreal, Canada, UFC President Dana White confirmed with Yahoo Sports’ Dan Wetzel on Wednesday.

Machida retained the 205-pound title with a controversial unanimous decision win over Rua in their first meeting at UFC 104 in October.

Brock Lesnar Undergoes Minor Surgery, Released From Hospital; Interim Title In The Works

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar underwent minor surgery yesterday to treat a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract and has been released from the hospital.

With Lesnar out indefinitely, White told the LA Times on Tuesday that the UFC will schedule an interim heavyweight title fight, with Carwin and fellow contender Cain Velasquez expected to square off early next year.

Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman Likely for UFC 109 in February

Light heavyweights Randy Couture and Mark Coleman are expected to meet in the main event of UFC 109 on February 6 in Las Vegas, according to Sherdog, marking the first time UFC Hall of Famers will square off inside the Octagon.

Couture is coming off a win over Brandon Vera this past Saturday at UFC 105, while Coleman defeated Stephan Bonnar in his most-recent bout in July.

WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown, challenger Jose Aldo, and the rest of the WEC 44 card successfully made weight today for Wednesday’s Versus-televised event, which takes place at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Brown and Aldo both tipped the scale right at the 145-pound featherweight limit, while featherweight contenders Manny Gamburyan and Leonard Garcia, who co-headline the event, weighed in at 146-pounds.

Update: St-Pierre and Hardy “Not Under Consideration” For TUF 11 Coaching Gigs

UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and top contender Dan Hardy are “not under consideration” to be coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 11, according to Heavy.com. Yesterday, The Telegraph reported that St-Pierre and Hardy could appear as coaches on the reality series, likely delaying a matchup between the pair from February or March until mid-2010.

The previously-undiagnosed illness will keep Lesnar out of action indefinitely, though he could be released from the hospital soon, UFC President Dana White told the AP.
