All six fighters scheduled to be in action at Strikeforce’s CBS-televised event on April 17 in Nashville took part in an open workout on Wednesday in Hollywood, California.

The open workout featured middleweight champion Jake Shields and challenger Dan Henderson, who meet in the “Nashville” headliner, as well as lightweight title-holder Gilbert Melendez, Shinya Aoki, light heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi, and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.

The fight card for “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2″ is nearly complete, as a middleweight bout between Nick Catone and John Salter has been booked for the preliminary card of the May 8 event in Montreal, Canada.

UFC 113 is headlined by a rematch between light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and also features Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley and Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione.

EA Sports today released a gameplay trailer for its anticipated “EA Sports MMA” video game, which is slated to be released. Featuring Strikeforce as its premiere promotion, “EA Sports MMA” is set to be released later this year and will include Strikeforce welterweight champ Nick Diaz, former middleweight title-holder Cung Le, and heavyweight prospect Bobby Lashley, who are all featured in the latest trailer, which is available after the jump…

Bellator today finalized the roster for its upcoming, season two lightweight tournament with the addition of Pat Curran, the cousin of former WEC featherweight and bantamweight contender Jeff Curran, who also recently signed with the upstart promotion.

The 155-pound tournament, which also includes UFC veteran Roger Huerta, begins at Bellator’s second season debut on April 8. Opening round matchups are slated to be announced in the coming days.

Following conflicting reports that their upcoming matchup may be off, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, who serve as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 11, both recently confirmed on Twitter that the bout is still on. Liddell-Ortiz was expected to headline UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver, but Ortiz was recently hospitalized with a “bad flu” and it’s not yet known if the illness could delay the matchup.

Bellator today announced that it has reached a deal with Everlast to be the promotion’s exclusive equipment provider, with the company also producing co-branded equipment with the promotion and serving as a sponsor of all Bellator events, including it’s anticipated upcoming second season, which kicks off on April 8 and airs live on Fox Sports Net.

Drug tests for “WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz,” World Extreme Cagefighting’s March 6 event in Columbus, Ohio, were clean, the Ohio Athletic Commission has announced. WEC 47, which drew 8,345 fans to the Nationwide Arena earlier this month, generated a $401,000 live gate, according to the OAC.

To hype the second installment of “UFC Primetime: St-Pierre vs. Hardy,” which debuts tonight at 10pm, Spike TV has released quotes from welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and challenger Dan Hardy, who meet at UFC 111 on March 27, as they continue their war of words. Also released were comments from Matt Serra, who upset St-Pierre in 2007 and is now training with Hardy, and GSP’s teammate Nate Marquardt.

Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard will likely fight former WEC champ Paulo Filho at Bellator’s May 20 event, while a previously-announced non-title “super fight” between lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez and UFC veteran Josh Neer is slated for the promotion’s May 6 card.

A pair of notable debuts are on tap for Strikeforce’s May 15 event in St. Louis, as accomplished grappler Roger Gracie recently confirmed he’ll face fellow light heavyweight Kevin Randleman on the card, while Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro is expected to debut against lightweight Lyle Beerbohm at the event.

For the first time in UFC history, UFC fans can head to their local movie theater and take in all the action in the Octagon, live (10 pm ET/7 pm PT) and broadcast in high definition on the big screen with UFC 111: St- Pierre vs. Hardy. In addition, fighters throughout the country will be hosting the evening with Q&A, autograph and other fan sessions.

“UFC Undisputed 2010,” featuring heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar on the cover, is set to be released on May 25 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Versus, the cable home of World Extreme Cagefighting that will also broadcast select UFC events beginning this Sunday, is back on DirecTV, after the companies ended an extended standoff on Monday by reaching an agreement on a new deal that well see Versus “return to the same DirecTV programming packages it was in at the end of August 2009.”
