Alistair Overeem vs. Sam Hoger In The Works For Shooto

Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem, is likely to return to MMA action soon, against former “The Ultimate Fighter” contestant Sam Hoger in the Japanese promotion Shooto. Overeem was twice schedule to defend his Strikeforce belt over the summer, but a hand injury suffered in a bar fight forced both match ups to be scrapped. He has been absent from MMA, competing only in K-1 since November of 2008. According to a report by InsideFights, Overeem and Hoger have verbally agreed to face one another, though the official bout agreements have yet to be signed.

WWE star turned MMA prospect Bobby Lashley is reportedly in talks with Strikeforce to be a part of their upcoming November 7 CBS televised event. Lashley still has two fights left on his contract with Prize Fight Promotions, and was rumored to have a November match-up with Ron Waterman with the promotion. However, MMAFanhouse says they have reason to believe he will be making his Strikeforce debut on the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers headlined event, though no deal has been signed.

On Wednesday, the UFC made three more bouts for the UFC 106 official. The promotion officially announced Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah, Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders and Jason Dent vs. George Sotiropoulos for the preliminary card of the November 21 event to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Headlining UFC 106 will be a heavyweight title bout between two behemoths, champion Brock Lesnar, and challenger Shane Carwin. Also featured on the card is the return of Tito Ortiz who will be facing off against Mark Coleman.

FEG Announces That October 25 Dream 12 Will Take Place In A Cage

The Japanese promotional group FEG, which runs the Dream MMA events, has long be suggesting that they had a big surprise in store for their already announced Dream 12 event, which will take place on October 25 in Osaka, Japan. They had already released a short promotional video in which were a few shots of a cage which led some people to believe that would be the surprise. Those people were correct, and Dream has officially confirmed that with a new promotional video for the event (included below).
