Atencio Says Affliction Won’t Counter UFC 100

Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio on Monday told MMA Junkie that the promotion’s third event will not take place on July 11th, the same day as the UFC’s historic UFC 100 event, as previously rumored.
“That’s all rumors, and that’s just what people think,” Atencio said. “In my eyes, it’s not even a possibility. It doesn’t make sense.”
According to Atencio, Affliction is actively planning the event, which now has no date or announced venue and will soon meet with Affliction’s partners at M-1 to finalize details for the card.

That’s smart on their part. If anything, the rumours might have helped them get their name out there. MMA fans will watch as many organizations as they can, but casual fans will most likely only watch the UFC until the trend is over.
this is the smartest thing I believe he’s said since getting into MMA promotions…
This is the best thing Affliction could have done, i love to watch all MMA shows, but that day July 11, there is no way i’m missing a second of UFC 100l Affliction IMO can’t put a card together that would catch my attention enough to check out they’re show that day so good move for them.
