Torres, Mizugaki, Njokuani, and Yahya Awarded WEC 40 Bonuses
Miguel Torres, Takeya Mizugaki, Anthony Njokuani, and Rani Yahya were each awarded $10,000 bonuses on Sunday for their performances at WEC 40: Torres vs. Mizugaki, which was held at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois and aired live on Versus.
In the evening’s main event, Torres and Mizugaki exchanged punches in a five roundwar and were each awarded “Fight of the Night” bonuses for their performances in the bout that is considered an early Fight of the Year candidate.
On the prelminary card, Njokuani dropped Bart Palaszewski late in the first then picked up where he left off in the second, finishing Palaszewski off with punches just 27-seconds into the frame to earn “Knockout of the Night”.
“Submission of the Night” honors went to Rani Yahya for his submission of Eddie Wineland by rear naked choke just over one minute into the opening round.

10g’s for fight of the night (early fight of the year canadate), well I would be one to assume that some “under the table” cash was also distributed to both of these fighters…. That was one hell of a fight tho and well deserved FOTN honors…
They should pay those guys more.

That was problably the best fight i’ve seen this year so far. I’ve never seen Torres pushed to the limit like that. Mizugaki gave him a great fight, he really showed why he’s one of the best 135 pounders and he really impressed me. In the 2nd round it looked as if he was gassed, but then he picked up the pace again. It’s going to be hard to take Torre’s belt away from him. That guy can do it all man. Mizugaki just needs to work on his ground and he’ll be much more dangerous.
