Ryan Bader likely suffered a torn MCL and possibly a torn ACL in his unanimous decision UFC Fight Night 18 victory over Carmelo Marrero.- Tyson Griffin, Rafael dos Anjos, Aaron Simpson, and Rob Kimmons each received $30,000 bonuses for their UFN 18 performances on Wednesday at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Griffin and dos Anjos were awarded “Fight of the Night” for their main card brawl that saw Griffin emerge victorious via unanimous decision. Simpson took home “Knockout of the Night” by default with his first-round TKO of Tim McKenzie on the evening’s preliminary card, the only knockout of the card. Rob Kimmons put Joe Vedepo to sleep on the undercard to score “Submission of the Night”.
- Steve Steinbeiss, who was to square off with Ryan Jensen at Fight Night 18 before the fight was called off yesterday, was paid his guaranteed salary and win bonus by the UFC.
- UFN 18 recorded a record-setting official attendance of 10,267, topping UFC Fight Night 15 for the highest “Fight Night” attendance. The event generated a live gate of $626,077, falling short of the $753,429 record held by UFN 13.

Wow Bader’s got a bum knee?! How did he do that? I know I didn’t see anything watching the fight that would have indicated a kneed injury, and unfortunately I’ve already deleted the fights from my DVR.
I think it’s cool that Steinbeiss got paid his guaranteed money and the win bonus even though he didn’t fight. That evil Zuffa, paying someone for not fighting.

I’m disappointed that you beat me to it, but I can’t be surprised Mr. I-comment-34-minutes-after-Kris-posts-it-no-matter-what-time-it-is
Glad Steinbeiss was paid for his training time. It was not his fault Jensen was not cleared to fight.
is it just me or is Tyson Griffin one of the most boring fighters to watch? I swear every match is a decision (okay … not every one, but the last 7 in a row).
same with bader … I was trying to make bets that his match would go the distance as well … no takers.
one can only hope this wrestler turned mma; hold-em to win style turns into something more exciting – a la Rashad Evans.
Bader didn’t hold em to win.. Did you not see him transition from sub to sub. His far side arm bar in the later minutes of the round.. what about his last fight where he knocked out vinny.
Sure the last round was kinda blah but still if he does have a bum knee that prolly slowed him down.
Bader is for real
I can’t believe that the Tyson Griffin fight got fight of the night. The main event, Condit and Kapman was one of the exciting technical fights that I have seen in a while.
i thought bader looked real good in that fight. he started fighting more like a wrestler late in the fight, but he went for a good number of submissions early which is a good sign of him evolving into an mma fighter.
the griffin fight was ok, but no “Fight of the Night”, those honors definitely should’ve went to Condit-Kampmann. That was an exciting fight. After the first 2 minutes, i was wishing that it would’ve been a 5-rounder. They got screwed outta some bonuses.
So glad to see Junie Browning lose!
dang, didnt know that about bader, I didnt see anything in the fight to indicate a knee injury, unless he hurt it doing a sprawl or a takedown. maybe it happened during his last week or two of camp. if it is a torn acl he is out at least 6-9 months. I think the dos anjos-griffin fight was fight of the night. and had griffin’s knee not gotten hurt he would have ended the fight with a ko. he was landing some big shots but after that knee lock he didnt have the same power. kampmann-condit was a good fight but to me it wasnt fight of the night.
Bader said in a post fight video I watched that he heard his knee pop during a take down early in the fight, and it was “loose” after that.
I was there the Griffen fight was the best. Maybe I hope that Master Bader will learn how to throw a punch while he rehabs his knee. Worst fight I have ever seen live. The boos where so loud that I joined in.
Overal top to bottom the card did not deliver.
“Best moment of the night was seeing Rampage dancing to Kampmann’s walk out music.”
