I cant pick a winner between cole and junie but cole just had the most hilarious quote ever “he’s like a big douche with stupid hair and tattoos” I laughed like crazy…oo well its starting this is gonna be a good fight i think!

  • gunslinger says:

awesome if cole came it with that much intensity in every fight he could be a force at 155…junie is gonna be good i have feeling this was just a lesson too him im not gonna be stupid and talk crap about junie i think to start becoming better junie needed this loss…And im expecting a great junie to show up next time

  • timcat says:

    Nice guillotine.

  • timcat says:

Have to take Griffin in this one.

  • gunslinger says:

wow tyson almost got trailer hitched!…thats what that is called a trailer hitch and that was like a weird variation of that…That almost was the first trailer hitch ever in mma and this could hurt tyson in the 2nd round im kinda getting worried for tyson :(

  • gunslinger says:

wow awesome fight…this has to be a canidate for FOTN but anyways doj anjos is welcome back in the ufc anytime in my book win or lose no on ehas gave tyson a fight like that

  • gunslinger says:

wow….UD for tyson I dont think so dos anjes put up a fight i had it Split for tyson…im kinda mad at that doj anjos had tyson hurt too a couple times and landed shots and had alot of sub attempts definitly should have been a SD for tyson but o well

  • gunslinger says:

wow good fight for bader so far…he is going to be a great fighter

  • D0zer says:

soooo glad browning lost. Bader deserves a big win, marrero has lots of good experience tho

  • gunslinger says:

wow!…bader looks fantastic, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future..he has alot of potential

  • D0zer says:

Yeah he does look good… marrero is no joke, everyone thought he’d decision bader. Let’s see if condit is ready, kampann is a big step up in competition

  • bigchris2328 says:

this was a good card, junie got choked for talking crap, that “trailer hitch” that dos anjos had was sick. I thought he tore griffin’s acl. that could be fight of the night. bader looks really good. maybe hes ready for houston alexander. he is nowhere ready for the top guys at 205. maybe he will drop to 185. I liked his transistion from the “cross” control to a armbar was pretty. had his left leg not hit the guys thigh he would of submitted him. he had great potential. the condit-kampmann fight was good. both guys can do damage at 170 but will more than likely lose to the top 4(gsp, alves, fitch, kos) I would like to see either condit or kampmann against rumble soon. I know he is fighting in a few months, but would have an exciting fight with either guy. I laughed when buffer did his “buffer turn” that was hilarious.

  • Justin says:

I thought it was a good night of fights, overall.

I’m glad that Cole beat Junie, but I really am not a fan of either one at this point.

I didn’t know what that was called (the Trailer Hitch) but I knew it had to be painful and would cause Griffin problems moving forward in the fight. I thought he would have knocked out Dos Anjos, but I think the way that the Trailer Hitch took that left leg away from him for a lot of the fight canceled that out. Dos Anjos is no joke on the ground, and isn’t half bad on the feet, I think that even though he’s lost his last two fights, he’ll be allowed to stick around.

I was disappointed at the fans booing during the Bader fight. Bader definitely has potential and I only see him getting better. Bader looked like he gassed out towards the end there, if he had a little bit bigger gas tank I think he would have been able to finish that fight at some point.

Condit v. Kampmann was a great fight that I feel could have gone either way. I was really glad to see that the bout was a great back and forth grappling match for much of the fight. I’m not a fan of some fighters’ tendency lately to get sucked into sloppy Kickboxing matches instead of proper MMA, this fight was fought everywhere, and that’s what MMA should be about. Like what was said above, I don’t think either man is a big threat to the top 4 of the division, but I think they could hold their own against most.

    • bsbiz says:

If Bader is going to have any, and I mean ANY future in the UFC, he has got to learn what to do after he’s taken a guy down. Lay and pray can be effective, but just about the entire match, a rear naked choke was sitting cage-side with puppy dog eyes and Bader ignored the poor bastard. Marrero allowed Bader to take his back because he knew he wasn’t in any danger of anything other than love taps.

      • Justin says:

I don’t disagree with that, but I think the armbar attempt he pulled out of his butt shows that he’s working on submissions. Granted, he’s not there yet, but he’s working towards it.

  • fr702 says:

A nice night of free fights, um well these are my opionions

Junie, dude you talked too much shhit and couldn’t back it up, I did pick him to win I was just going for the dog in that fight, the key to beating Junie imo is to pressure him get him on the ground and go for the choke,, he doesn’t like to be choked and he has zero defense for it.. It was shown on TUF and now again on Fight Night 18… If I was training the kid I would choke him in many different variations every hour on the hour, so he gets use to it and learns how to defend it once the choke has been applied, thats just me tho…

Tyson Griffin is a tough sob, and imo that fight was not a 30~27 UD, I think it was a lot closer than that… The subs that he powered out of were sick, and his knee isn’t ok imo that thing is going to get swolen tomorrow.. His striking was ok, but his determenation got him through the fight, I do believe he won but not at a 30~27 score…

Bader, well kid nice takedowns, ok striking good switching.. His wrestling is really good, but damnit learn a choke or two would ya… He had dudes neck at any point he wanted it, but never pulled the trigger, that was frustrating to watch, but he did look the best he could be on this night, It is unfortunate about his knee…

(The fight of the night, imo) Kampmann v Condit, what a display by both of them, that fight could have gone either way easily, if not a draw (yet Kampmann imo won the 3rd), also Kampmann destroyed his arms with that sick choke and hell of a way to get out of it by Calos in the first… Carlos and Kampmann are going to do well in WW division, Condit needs to work on a few things but damn that was a good fight, I was impressed by both of them and well it was a good fight….

    *sidenote*

Carlos Condit will drop in my WW rankings by the way,, I enjoyed the fight he looked good but it is what it is…

    • JB says:

Yea I know, Marrero gave bader his back several times and bader didnt even attempt to take advantage of it. I must be the only one who didnt think bader looked all that great. We all knew he has really good wrestling and it looks like his transitions are getting better but his striking is no where near where it needs to be for him to be a contender in light heavy.

      • Justin says:

In the second round this fight sort of looked like Lesnar v. Herring, you had the big powerful wrestler that was controlling where the fight took place (Bader/Lesnar) but just couldn’t seem to figure out how to finish the savvy veteran (Marrero/Herring)

    • dbiz says:

Don’t forget to mention that Cole Miller is as big a douche as Junie could ever dream of being. He ragged on Junie’s tattoos then showed off his ATT tat with his brown belt around his neck? Seriously?

  • timcat says:

The Kampmann Condit fight was a draw imo. Bad decision. Bader is going to be a beast with more experience. Junie , find a new career you suck.

  • RJA says:

pretty good card. Not a fan of cole miller, but was very impressed.I thought he looked a little bigger than before and more cut up.As far as bader he reminds me of rashard when he first one.So hopefully we’ll see some improved standup down the road and his fights will be a little more entertaining.

  • Figs says:

I personally feel that Condit had one the fight and the fact that he gave away the third round didn’t help the judges make their case. It was close and am awesome fight, so I won’t complain, but that’s not how I scored the fight. (I’m also not a judge).

Good riddance on Junie Browning. I don’t remember laughing that hard in a long time. He got what was coming to him, what’s his record now? 3-3? I wonder if he joined Tompkins and some after fight snorting to get over the loss. Yes, I went there with Tompkins. Good trainer, bad influence.

  • Aaron says:

Welcome to the UFC Condit! Last night really showed the competition in the UFC vs WEC. The WEC is becoming the minor league of the UFC. Oh and I loved the beating that Junie Browning recieved.

  • marvelknight4 says:

I was happy to see Cole Miller beat Junie Browning, but i think it was a bi*ch move to trash talk after the fight. It’s not professional. Once two guys settle their score in the octagon the beef should end there IMO. I mean stop acting like little girls. Browning only said Miller is overrated, it’s normal to trash talk like that before a fight, Miller shouldn’t take it so personal.

Condit and “The Hitman” put on a great fight, i was rooting for Condit, but he still had a good showing.

Tyson Griffin is a tough guy and i’m glad he won, i was hoping to see him score a ko but maybe on his next fight.

  • Bzul3 says:

Great night of Fights!! Tyson Griffin is always a pleasure to watch. I just hope he doesn’t fully remove himself from his ground game. Hes still a great fighter none the less.

I hated to see Condit lose, I’m a pretty big fan of his. Hes a great fighter/exciting. Not to make excuses but maybe he got complacent with his 5 round bouts and didnt properly prepare for a 3 round battle, because he completely gave away that 3rd round. But Kampmann looked very well himself tho.

Junie……Well no need to beat a dead horse

Ryan Bader…. PLEEEEAAASSSEEEE work on ur striking, subs, and ground and pound. Imo, I guess im in the minority, but I was hardly impressed with him at all in this fight. There’s nothing worse than a One Dimensional Fighters in MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. We all know your wrestling is great now add something else to it. But he still has time tho which is good. I was really excited to see Bader, but this was kind of a set back in my eyes. Marrero was taylor-made for him and we were treated to a one sided/15 minute wrestling match.

  • jazzkok says:

yeah dude i’m glad tyson won and although condit’s kool, i was glad to see kampann get the w because i want to see him face the top ww’s.

i know it’s been said, but dude, wtf, cole miller’s comments were unprofessional and gay dude. Hope he does get the winner of fisher and uno so he can get brought down to earth.

Didn’t watch the ryan bader tuf show, but dude, he’s clearly got a loooot of work to do if he’s going to survive in the lhw division dude.

  • eddieko25 says:

I was not impressed with kampman he just held down condit with poor ground and pound condit was better in the stand up and even on his back went for subs and was landing good in my mind condit was the better fighter…but o well octagon control I guess

  • bigchris2328 says:

good point justin, i didnt like how the fans were booing during the bader fight. that is not right and should not be done at any event. the people that boo should get into the octagon and see how they do. like FR said bader needs to learn some subs. he did have his opponents neck on a platter a bunch of times. he just needs to get comfortable with the guillotine and rear naked choke, as well as a armbar and he will be a tough match for anyone at 205. I understand he is huge and might walk around at 220, but if he doesnt improve on his subs he will not last long at 205. thats why I mentioned he should drop to 185. he is a young guy, he could make the drop. just start his diet and cardio ahead of schedule. thats only if he doesnt improve his subs. dos anjos has some good jj and griffin is a damn good striker. too bad he couldnt put much weight on that knee after dos anjos locked in his knee lock. griffin was landing shots and shouldve ko’d dos anjos.

    • Justin says:

I think he is safer at 205 without subs than his would be at 185. At 205 most of the top fighters are stand up fighters, at 185 the top 6 (in no particular order) are:
      A. Silva – Sick striker, w/ BJJ black belt.
      Demain Maia – Sick Jitz
Thales Leites – Good Jitz, ok striking.
Nate Marquardt – Good jitz guy with strong wrestling and good striking.
Dan Henderson – Great wreslter, with good striking and a lot of power as a striker.
Yushin Okami – Strong wrestler and decent striker who has defeated a lot of good Jitz guys.

    • Bzul3 says:

I personally feel that if a fight is boring and u paid ur hard earned money to be entertained, then u have every right to boo at ur discretion. Just like u have every right to cheer. I could understand if it was a couple of wasted guys in the stands carrying on for the sake of it, then yes thats uncalled for. But if 3/4’s of the crowd are bored, then that is a problem and they have every right to boo. If a match is boring then thats just what it is. Bader bored me and a lot others last night. Fortunately I had Tivo so I skipped most of it, but I feel for those who paid there hard earned money for that. Just my opinion.

  • bigchris2328 says:

good point justin, but with bader’s strength he could power out of the subs or dominate the guys with his wrestling at 185. aside from hendo and maia, maia would lock in a triangle or arm-bar quick and hendo is a great wrestler. the only other guy at 185 that walks around at 220 is silva. if bader would try to stand at 205 with those guys, I think he will be ko’d. he didnt show he had ko power last night, but that could be because of his knee. you forgot 1 guy at 185, cote. he is pretty good too.

  • carls says:

I think were going to see some awesome matchups for both Condit and Kampman in the future. Great fight, realy close.

  • Nightmare says:

can’t beleive junie went crazy when cole was yelling in his face. i though condit won it. first two rounds then kampmann one the last one.

  • marvelknight4 says:

I think Condit would match up well with overrated “star” Jon Fitch. Fitch is good, but he’s not that good. He can take a beating though.
Condit is only 24 and he’s already been a champion. I hope he only gets better and fights top guys in the near future.

    • RJA says:

Overated Really? He tied gracie for most UFC wins in a row, went the distance with gsp something hughes or penn couldn’t do recently and is 22-3 with wins over alvez, and sanchez. In my opinion he’s still the 2nd best welter in the world at least untill someone can go the distance with gsp

      • Justin says:

Matt Serra beat GSP, does that make him better than John Fitch?

      • marvelknight4 says:

Yeah Fitch tied Gracie, but he beat Alvez when Alvez wasn’t the fighter he is today. Both Fitch and Alvez have become better fighters since then. I think if they fought again, Alvez would destroy Fitch. Fitch is good, but he honestly has not impressed me, he took a beating from GSP, only proves he can take a beating. I’m not saying Fitch sucks, i’m just saying he’s overrated…And he is,but i respect your opinion RJA.

      • marvelknight4 says:

Also, most of the guys Fitch defeated to tie Gracie’s record were not too good, they were not as experienced. In my opinion his first true test was when he fought St. Pierre. I know he beat Sanchez, and of course Sanchez is a really good and tough fighter, but that was just one top fighter. Like i said before, whe he beat Alvez, Alvez was still growing as a fighter and was kind of a rookie. I don’t think he’s the number 2 welterweight, I think Alvez is, and Alvez has the ttols to defeat GSP.

      • fr702 says:

Ok ok well look at my rankings ya what ;-)

The road to the shot against The Greatness….

Fitch~ Larson, Burkman, Alves, Hironaka, Fioravanti, Carneiro, Sanchez, Wilson

Alves~ Allessio, De Souza, Hironaka, Lytle, Karo, Hughes (Alves missed weight), Kos (Kos took the fight on 5days notice)

Looks kinda like the road to the title shot imo, both are really good fighters thats why they are in the UFC bottom line IF Alves beats The Greatness then the rematch will happen…

  • Dietrich says:

Just got back from the event. A really long drive with little sleep so sorry if this meanders. The fans sucked(some not all but a significant number)…the booing was because they were bored, drunk and or ignorant of the sport.”Do something you baldheaded bastard” Direct quote from one of the louder…ugh…deep thinkers. They should have had sold stadium radios or something to keep the crowd more involved in the event. The drunks behind us were discussing their wives more then the sport. If you have never been to Nashville the event was right across the street from several known Country Western Bars.Kind of like a Red Neck Mardi Gras atmosphere. Traffic was awful. We arrived in time for Almedia-Horwitch. Most of the fans wanted blood and or the fast KO.
As for the fights I saw. Tyson looked more hurt then he let on. He kept locking the left leg and he only threw one knee after the hitch. He said he didn’t hear a pop so maybe it was a strain but he was compensating. I have torn my ACL and you just kind of walk like he did when you arent sure about it.
Bader looked like a wrestler that was tired and reverted back to what he knew. The fans were just un sympathetic to him. He’s a young fighter. I expected a more refined fan’s eye at 16 years into the sport. The armbar showed promise of a better fighter in the future.
Condit was a pleasure to watch. When Kampman was being checked Carlos was stalking him like a shark in the water. The fans expected a tap by Condit every time. Doesn’t anyone watch Versus in Tenn.? Condit will take a nap or a snap before a tap. I think Arizona Combat Sports let him down on this one. The height reach advantage should have been utilized. He’s not afraid to be on his back so I think he should have went after it standing a little more and that would have been a calling card victory for him. Just my opinion

    • fr702 says:

Dietrich, thx for that my friend, pretty good write up forsure

      • Dietrich says:

        @fr702,
Your welcome. Looking back on it all I should have known the crowd was not that educated when they booed during the Almedia Horwitch fight. Horwitch wasn’t stalling he used basic 10th planet technique to survive against a great BJJ player and it went completely over their head. If it wasn’t Chuck or Randy or Brock they did not care…Anyway have a good weekend
        D

      • fr702 says:

        10th planet ftw :P

Hey I go to events in California and our crowds or either really knowledgable or just drunken retards, yet when the drunks get removed (the usually do) the crowd always tends to get better, a perfect example is the crowd at Jens v Urijah I in Sacramento (Arco Arena), the fans were god awful but by the time Torres v Maeda fight was getting ready to start (walk outs) the riffraff got sorted out, then we could enjoy the hell out of the last two fights it became a really good enviroment, like an entirely different show…. Then there was a fight at a Local Casino (Indian {feather not dot} :-) the crowd was god awful the entire time, total 2nd or 3rd rate show filled with uneducated fans who were just having blood lust like a mother.. I hate crowds like that, but again thx for the write up

  • RJA says:

    Justin,
Good point.I guess i have a hard time taking that fight to seriously. But you could definatly make the argument that serra is better than fitch if your one of them people that like to argue just to argue.I think we all know that fitch is probally the better fighter though.I do believe your just throwing that out there for the fun of it though.either way fun topic.

    • Justin says:

Yeah, mostly I threw that out there for the fun of it. The point though is that if you say Fitch is the second best at WW “at least untill(sic) someone can go the distance with gsp(sic)” you open yourself for that argument. I definitely think Fitch is better than Serra, and that Fitch is either the number 2 or 3 WW in the UFC. The problem with judging Serra, or Fitch against another opponent based on how they did against GSP is that GSP didn’t take Serra 1 very seriously (plus he was having personal problems) and he didn’t take Fitch very seriously either (so he has claimed). Obviously GSP made up for Serra 1 when he pwned him the second go round. We’ll see about Fitch if they ever have a second go round.

I think one of the problems some people have with Fitch is that he’s on a 4 fight decision streak, and 5 of his last 8 fights went to a decision (both numbers including the decision loss to GSP). People tend to not like guys that get decisions all the time (see discussion of Lyoto Machida pre UFC 94).

  • RJA says:

Yea,fitch going the distance with GSP was maybe not the best way to argue his legitamacy as a top fighter.Going back to the original comment by marvelknight though i just don’t think he’s overated.I do respect his opinion though.I’m just bias.lol
