The Ultimate Fighter 18 concluded Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Event Center and it was time to honor the best moments of the season on a night that saw Team Tate fighters Juliana Peña and Chris Holdsworth take home the champions’ trophies. The promotion had fans vote on the awards during tonight’s FOX Sports 1 broadcast, with Jessamyn Duke, Raquel Pennington, Jessica Rakoczy, and Sarah Moras picked up $25,000 bonuses for their efforts on the reality show.
The winner of this season’s “Submission of the Season” was Team Tate’s Sarah Moras. “Cheesecake” would earn $25K by submitting Peggy Morgan in the show’s ninth episode. Moraes was one of only two female fighters to not fight on Saturday’s finale, but that was only due to injury.
Taking home “Knockout of the Season” was TUF 18 finalist Jessica Rakoczy for her second round KO victory over Roxanne Modafferi. The former boxing surprised several people by fending off Modafferi’s ground attack before putting her away in the final moments of their two round battle. Rakoczy found about the award shortly before her loss to Peña.
The least surprising award went to Raquel Pennington and Jessamyn Duke for their explosive second fight that netted them $25K apiece for “Fight of the Season.” Duke and Pennington engaged in a thrilling back and forth war that saw Pennington victorious via decision. Both fighters further impressed the UFC brass by picking up victories at the finale.
