Another bout has been added to the unofficial lineup for UFC 100 as rising light heavyweight Jon Jones will take on Jake O’Brien on July 11th in Las Vegas, according to The Garv.

A professional fighter for less than one year, Jones (8-0) has already compiled an undefeated 8-0 record, including a 2-0 mark in the UFC with unanimous decision victories over Andre Gusmao and Stephan Bonnar.

O’Brien (11-2) is a former heavyweight who, after suffering back-to-back losses to Andrei Arlovski and Cain Velasquez in 2008, dropped down to the 205-pound light heavyweight division earlier this year. In his debut in the new class “Irish” defeated Christian Wellisch via split decision on the UFC 94 preliminary card in January.

looks like a good matchup, and as long as jones doesnt get gassed he should win. he is a crazy striker and very raw, but has a great future ahead of him.

I thought O’Brien was cut a while back, and this is his 1st fight back since then. Was he like oh hey if I cut down to 205 can I stay? and then ufc says sure but we’re feeding you to “bones” Jones.

I first thought I heard his nickname as “chubby bones jones”. Then when I found out it wasn’t, I still refer to him as chubby bones jones. Sounds better anyway. Funny, if you will…

I really hope this fight is on the main card cause Jones was really impressive back at ufc 94… he has some sick throws. but the ufc 100 card is kinda stacked already so i doubt it will be on the main card

I like the potential of Jones in the future. This guy can strike and wrestle with the best of them now. Just wait until he gets seasoned.
