    why coleman… why…

  • Josh V says:

Stephan had better KO him in the very first round. No questions asked.

  • Jazzkok says:

Good fight for both of these dudes. It’s hard for a guy like bonnar to be matched with a fight that makes sense. He’s in a division where 90% of the fighters are top level dudes, so i think for media exposure this is a good fight for him. He shouldn’t have a problem ending colemans “comback”

    • marvelknight4 says:

Bonnar is still young. Coleman’s in good shape for his age but the older you get the more jello your jaw becomes. This is an interesting fight wich i’m looking foward to. Bonnar by tko in the 3rd

      • willyd says:

Coleman won’t make it to the 3rd, if Shogun wouldn’t of gassed, it would of been over in the 1st. Bonnar should be able to win (T)KO 1st round within 3 minutes.

  • marvelknight4 says:

i don’t think Bonnar can finish Coleman in the first because Bonnar also tends to gas out. Coleman, even though he’s old, in the Shogun fight he showed he can take some punishment, not a lot, but some and Bonnar is still rusty and needs 1 or 2 more fights before he gets back into his groove.

    • willyd says:

Bonnar didn’t look too bad against Jones, the ring rust showed, but Jones had some crazy throws. IMO, this will be Bonnar’s coming back fight and not Coleman’s, he will put on an impressive show and land a beautiful right that will send the big boy nighty night.

      • marvelknight4 says:

Since Bonnar is hungry to be one of the big dogs he needs to finish Coleman and finish him fast, but i still think Coleman can make it past the 1st round

  • Jazzkok says:

Yeah i think this could be bonnars chance to not only get his groove back and get on the winninc track, but also to spring forward in the divison. Coleman isn’t a top guy, or a super tough fight, but he’s a hall of famer and a big dude that draws some interest and if bonnar can get a ko or tko, it will make him look good and he could get matched with a “better” fight that could good for his career.

  • RJA says:

It’s hard to predict the outcome of this one,but i hope the best for stephan.I’ve always liked him,i just don’t think he has what it takes to be a real threat in the division.I think he’ll pull this one off though, judging by colemans last outing he’ll probally just have to avoid an early KO.

  • Jerod says:

I am assuming Bonnar/Coleman will be on the main card. The more non-title fights that get booked for UFC 100 mean that less title fights will take place that night. Not to represent Captain Obvious, but I think it’s a pretty even split between people who want all the belts to be defended that night and people who do not. Personally, I am glad these big non-title fights keep getting booked for this card (also Hendo vs. Bisping) because I don’t really want to see a lag afterwards of no title fights for awhile.

    • marvelknight4 says:

I agree with you because if all titles get defended we won’t see title fights after that which would be boring and would for sure hurt the PPV buys. 2 title fights should happen that night.

  • Justin says:

I do think Bonnar will win this fight, but don’t count out the fact that this will now be Coleman’s second fight at 205, and second fight back in action after a long layoff as well. He should be improved over what he showed in his last fight.

  • aznstar says:

I think the UFC doesn’t want to cut Bonner (cause of what he did for them in TUF) so they are feeding him a bigger name guy, but a guy who is well passed his prime. The UFC gains nothing if Coleman wins, but if Stephan wins I could see a match with Jardine or Houston Alexander and maybe they can build him back up from there. Carwin’s injury doesn’t mean much, but I could see Steve Vs. Lesnar/Mir next. I do think in the mean time Greg Jackson need to work on Carwins defense cause I don’t think he can eat 2 unblocked right hands from Brock like he did Gabe.

    • Justin says:

      Steve? Do you mean Shane?

      • zac says:

rofl…i’m down to start callin him steve….shane “steve” carwin has a ring to it =]

      • Justin says:

I’m not trying to make fun, I read Steve, so I was thinking “Steve Steinbliss?” which my next thoughts are 1. He’s not even in the UFC, 2. Why the heck would he be fighting Lesnar or Mir, he’s not even HW?

      • aznstar says:

Haha yes my bad. I was on a conference call while I was typing that. I also double posted on the BJ Penn thread if you could dead one of those too Justin. I hate trying to post on my sidekick.

      • willyd says:

aznstar, you do exactly what I do on conference calls! Always get caught reading an article on here and get asked my advise on something from the call. I’ve gotten very good at saying “Sorry, someone walked up to my desk and asked me something. What was the question again?”

      • Justin says:

        aznstar,
I took care of one of those duplicates for ya. I understand about trying to be on here and on the phone, I end up asking people to repeat themselves as well. Of course I generally have an excuse because I’m trying to get something together on my computer for them as well.

      • aznstar says:

Haha yes! its one of those things where I had the phone on mute, listening to my boss talk about last weeks numbers while I sit in my office and read Frenzy lol.

  • gunslinger says:

bonnar second round tko….coleman will probably look good for the first 30 seconds then gas at 31 seconds in

  • Quinton says:

    Getting back on topic
Bonnar with a 2nd round tko (colmans getting to old for the business. Although there Randy Coutore.)

  • marvelknight4 says:

The only way i see Coleman winning is if he takes Bonnar down as soon as the fight starts and pounds a tko.

  • nightmare says:

i hope coleman wins. carin beat him with a broken nose

  • bzul3 says:

Coleman really has no business fighting. Seriously, enough is enough. This is getting scary.

  • Jazzkok says:

I like bonnar. He’s always ready to go head on and fight but we all know that he isn’t going anywhere in that LHW division. If bonnar wins, who will he fight next? Houston (if he wins his next fight)? Dude, Bonnar doesn’t fit anywhere in that LHW div.

You know what fight would be kool @ lhw

    Thiago Silva vs Brandon Vera

  • gunslinger says:

bonnar fits in nicly with the devision dont count out bonnar being a contender just yet….i mean who thought frank mir would ever be able to come back from losing his comeback fight but look at him now

    ***RIP CHARLES “MASK” LEWIS JR.***
    ***RIP EVAN TANNER***
    ***RIP JUSTIN EILERS***
    ***RIP JUSTIN LEVENS***

  • Jazzkok says:

Good point gunslinger. I honestly never saw frank mir back on top and look at him now. But to be fair, i don’t think the HW division @ the time, was nearly as dangerous as the lhw division is. But still good point who knows what could happen.

  • chrisl says:

Kris- sugery is that kinda like surgery? haha just giving a heads up on the typo.

I’m w/ Gun here Bonnar’s career has been kinda on and off due his suspension and injury, I am not quite ready to right him off just yet. Coleman though I dunno really, it’s a more intriguing match up just b/c of the unknowns and other variables.

I thought Carwin was built by Cyberdyne Systems and sent back to protect John Connor… didn’t know he was human.

  • fr702 says:

Coleman v Bonnar huh? Well ok this should be interesting in a way.. Plus if Coleman loses I would assume that UFC 100 would be his final event in which he is fighting in for the UFC.. The first HW champ of the UFC is retired @ UFC 100 by means of brutal defeat at the hands of Stephen Bonnar~ ya that’s the headline I see.

  • Quinton says:

I think Coleman is going to lose, but how amazing would it be if somehow he was able to upset Stephen Bonnar

  • eldiablo says:

Coleman ALWAYS gases. Look at his early fights in UFC, look at most of his PRIDE fights (although he did win the GP in 2000, fighting twice on one card, he had an “easy” road to victory). If it goes past the first round, nay, the first 3 minutes, it’s pretty much over. Coleman just has too much muscle mass on his frame. Same thing happened to Lesnar in round 1 at UFC 91. These big guys need to train at higher altitudes to get their muscles atuned to taking in less oxygen. I don’t like this fight, but if you’re giving Shogun co main event status after he flopped around with Coleman, why not give Coleman a final shot.

  • russiandoeboi says:

it’s a bit like the shogun fight.

a great fighter, we are not sure if he’s going up again or down so dana says giv him a do or die fight – an aged yet always tenacious coleman.

interesting. painful to think about too but , hey in the end int’ll be a very interesting fight between two greats.

it’ll foece bonnar to really work on tdd and getting back to his feet. succes there will eventually get him a KO. i’m still shocked at how gassed shogun was from the coleman rematch. cobo of various factor but coleman is a tiring guy to fight

  • russiandoeboi says:

i’m not counting coleman out thats for damn sure!

  • Vinz_Clortho says:

Don’t count coleman out the guy can get hit by a truck in the head and stand back up. Also hes f**kin’ crazy dude, F**KIN’ CRAZY. Fo real yo.
