Gleison Tibau Replaces Efrain Escudero at UFN 18
Lightweight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 8″ Efrain Escudero recently announced via Myspace Bulletin that he has been forced out of his scheduled bout on April 1. He was scheduled to take part in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 18 on the evening, against fellow rising star Jeremy Stephens.
According to MMAJunkie a rib injury suffered during a recent training session may be the culprit. They also indicated that Gleison Tibau, who defeated Rich Climenti in his last outing, has been offered the opportunity to step in.
Stephens last fought at UFC Fight Night 17, losing by submission to Joe Lauzon, after stepping in on short notice for his training partner Hermes Franca. Before that Stephens had scored a knock out victory over Raphael dos Anjos with an uppercut from the hip, which has gained recognition as one of the top knock outs of 2008.
UFC Fight Night 18 is also scheduled to feature “The Ultimate Fighter 8″ Light Heavyweight winner Ryan Bader against Carmelo Marrero, as well as the promotional debut of the final WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit. whats up with every one gettin hurt?
I think that kind of goes with the territory of fighting for a living.
Sure got that right.
el oh el
this is really sad i was looking forward to this fight..i really think efrain could have won this….that makes two tuf winners who still havent fought……hopefully escudero wont be out as long as amir is( amir just keeps getting hurt)
I really liked Escudero, both as a fighter and his personality inside the house. He was pretty reserved and quiet, but then destroyed people in the cage. Wish him a speedy recovery.
I know i wanted to see him fight for so long
my favorite fighter from tuf 7 amir keeps getting hurt now my 2nd favorite fighter from tuf 8 got hurt
