UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will not fight Glover Teixeira February 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC president Dana White stated that Jones pulled out of the fight due to reasons other than injury, but he did not elaborate. White revealed the news following the UFC 167 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas.
White seemed understandably perturbed after having only broken the news the day before, stating, “[Jones] won’t fight in February 22. He just pulled out of the fight. He’s not fighting February 22.”
White promised that another main event would be announced for the Vegas card soon, and did confirm the event would take place at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. White stated that the Jones versus Teixeira will likely take place in March.
