Bellator FC, the upstart MMA promotion that has signed a broadcasting deal with ESPN Deportes, will hold it’s first event on April 3rd at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The promotion will continue to hold events every Friday through June 19th, with the broadcasts airing in primetime on ESPN Deportes the following day.
The lineup for the first event includes the opening rounds of the featherweight and lightweight tournaments as well as several non-tournament bouts.
The second event, which will take place on April 10 th at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, will feature the conclusion of the featherweight and lightweight opening rounds as well as the beginning of the welterweight tournament.
A third event is slated for April 18th in Norman, Oklahoma and is rumored to include the start of the promotion’s middleweight tournament.

I love the use of the term “upstart” instead of something like burgeoning, new, upcoming, exciting….
It is interesting that upstart would be the term used which, in case you were wondering, is not flattering. I would think that new promotions are a good thing.
