The UFC has confirmed their first ever trip to the city state of Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands for January 4, 2014. The UFC Singapore fight card will be headlined by a top welterweight pairing between Tarec Saffiedine and Jake Ellenberger. The UFC officially announced the fight card on Tuesday.
Former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine will finally be making his UFC debut after an extended layoff due to a knee injury. Saffiedine has won four straight fights, with the last bout seeing him defeat Nate Marquardt for the Strikeforce crown. The Belgian will take on Jake Ellenberger, who comes into the bout looking to right the ship after a disappointing performance at UFC on FOX 8.
The UFC officially announced four more fights for the card, including a previously rumored featherweight bout between Hacran Diaz and Tatsuya Kawajiri, a lightweight bout between Katsunori Kikuno and Quinn Mulhern, a welterweight bout between Kiichi Kunimoto vs. Hyun Gyu Lim, and a bantamweight bout between Kyung Ho Kang and Shunichi Shimizu.
Broadcast plans have yet to be announced for the card, but the fight card will likely land on FOX Sports 1 or FOX Sports 2.
