Forrest Griffin Expected To Return in August; Rampage or Jardine Likely
Forrest Griffin is expected to return to the octagon in August following successful surgery earlier this year to repair a broken hand suffered in his loss to Rashad Evans in December. He’s likely to square off with the loser of tonight’s UFC 96 headliner between light heavyweight contenders Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Keith Jardine in the August bout.
MMAFrenzy.com confirmed the schedule and opponents with Griffin on Friday.
Griffin (16-5), the winner of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, leaped into title contention in September 2007 with a submission of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 78. He immediately challenged “Rampage” for the title in July 2008, capturing the belt with a unanimous decision victory. In his first attempted title defense Griffin lost the championship to Evans at UFC 92 via third-round TKO.

glad to hear he is coming back. he is a very underrated fighter. cant wait to see him back in action. he has tremendous heart and skills. good luck to forrest.
i wouldnt mind seeing him fight against the winner or liddell/shogun!
liddell vs forrest would make alot of money and i would love to see forrest vs shogun again
He’s good figher I dont think he’s underrated but good to see him back.
cool hopfully becomes champ again im guessing he’ll face jardine then win his lost to him.
Looks like it will be Jardine.
I won’t complain about a rematch… Looking for forrest to win this time around.
I am willing to bet this fight don’t turn out like the first one.
I think so, too. Forrest is much improved, and has changed up his fighting style from their previous encounter. I expect Forrest to be able to stand, work angles, throw some heavy leg kicks and outpoint Jardine, if he doesn’t rock him and finish him off at some point. Not that Forrest has more punching power to do what Rampage couldn’t, but that Forrest will hit Jardine more times than Rampage did, and I think would have a higher potential towards a cumulative KO.
I want Forrest to comeback and make another run at the title. Hopefully they can set up a Forrest-Chuck fight. That would be a huge draw and would be good for both fighter’s carrers. If they put Forrest against Jardine, it would make some sense, but i still think that Forrest is a much better fighter than before and would be able to take out Jardine.
He’ll probley fight Jardin again. They both came off loses to tough challengers. (Rampage and Rashad)
