Belcher To Face Sakara at UFC 99
On a busy news day for the UFC, with multiple fights confirmed for upcoming pay-per-views including UFCs 98 and 99, it appears that another fight is being set for UFC 99 in Cologne Germany. Veterans Alan Belcher and Alessio Sakara are in negotiations for a Middleweight tilt to take place at the event, according to MMAWeekly. Both fighters are known for their striking, so it is expected that this bout will take place primarily on the feet.
In his last fight, at UFC 93, Belcher picked up a somewhat of a surprise victory over highly touted UFC newcomer Denis Kang. The victory came via guillotine choke in the third round, after falling behind on the cards for the first two rounds of the fight, making him 5-3 in his UFC career.
Sakara is coming off of a first round knock out over UFC newcomer Joe Vedepo at UFC Fight Night: Diaz vs. Neer. However Sakara has had an up and down career with the UFC, bringing him to a 4-4-1 UFC record going into the June bout with Belcher.

Alessio “How ya like them gatekeepers” Sakara with a chance to be part of another highlight reel ending….I just won’t predict which side of it he’ll be on.
I got Belcher, I was impressed in his last bout defeating Kang. Also that tat he has is kinda funky.
You mean Johnny Cash on his left arm?
i thought belcher would of got a higher ranked fighter,
Belcher seems to be a smart fighter; he’s not a real good fighter, but he’s seems to be smart. So I see him going for Sakara’s weakness, and taking the fight to the mat immediately. But I have a feeling, after he ruined the UFC’s plans with Kang, they are pulling for a devistating KO by Sakara.
Thanks Justin I forgot who was on his arm. You better be pretty tough to have a pink Johnny cash tat. I would agree I thought he would get someone with out a losing streak “Lately”
This match is blah for me… I will take Sakara just to do so I guess yet ofcourse i reserve the right to change to my pick to the guy with the horrible Jonny Cash tat at anytime
“horrible” is right… 1. It doesn’t really look like him. 2. It’s on his arm… Belcher’s intelligence – FTL.
Im sure a lot of people, Alan Belcher included, would have expected a much sterner test in his next outing. No disrespect to Legionairius but after beating Denis Kang im sure The Talent was expecting a much higher ranked opponent than Sakara. Seems like a bit of a step down in opposition considering the outcome of his last fight and whom it was against, Sonnen Belcher would have been better in my opinion
