MMAFrenzy’s coverage of UFC Fight Night 30 rolls along to the co-main event of the evening pitting Melvin Guillard against Ross Pearson. In a bout where fireworks were expected, neither would prove victorious in a bout that proved disappointing after Pearson was severely cut by an illegal knee.
Guillard and Pearson Ruled No Contest
Controversy would reign supreme in what was expected to be one of the more exciting fights of the night tonight in Manchester. The bout’s end came just as the action appeared to be picking up with Guillard landing a pair of knees to the head of Ross Pearson. While the first was close, but legal, the second knee was deemed illegal by the referee and the fight was called by the ringside physician due to a wicked cut opened up on Pearson’s forehead.
The finish was particuarly frustrating given the bizarre ending of the previous fight and both fighters were visibly upset with the result. Both Pearson and Guillard showed class despite the ruling and both appeared interested in hooking up again at a later date.
