Bobby Lashley To Fight Ken Shamrock at “March Badness”
Bobby Lashley, a former collegiate and professional wrestler who recently made his MMA debut, will square off with veteran Ken Shamrock on the undercard of the MMA-boxing hybrid event “March Badness,” which takes place on March 21st in Pensacola, Pensacola.
Bloody Elbow was the first to report the news earlier this evening and additional outlets have since confirmed that the heavyweight matchup has indeed been booked.
Boxers Roy Jones Jr. and Omar Sheika will square off in the event’s headliner with BJ Flores also scheduled to be in action on the boxing portion of the card. The MMA lineup also features Seth Petruzelli, who was last seen defeating Kimbo Slice in November, against former WEC title-holder Doug Marshall as well as former IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson facing UFC veteran Jeff Monson.
Lashley successfully made his MMA debut in December with a first-round TKO of Joshua Franklin, opening up a deep cut on Franklin’s face that forced the bout to be halted just 41-seconds into the opening round.
Shamrock earned his first victory in nearly five years when he submitted super heavyweight Ross Clifton last month.

he’s gonna whoop shamrock.
I don’t even know where to begin, I’am going to sit and think about this for a minute or I will just blaintly ignore perhaps the stupidest move eva made by Shammy Shamm, I haven’t decided yet
Ok I’ve had a moment to think about this.. Shammy Shamm is clearly slightly retarded, just a weee lil bit imo. I’m not attempting a fighter bashing thing but really who takes this fight? I mean come on man, you just beatup a fat racists and now this just make sense.
Unless, due to the fact that he probably ended up losing money, putting on that horrific event here in Fresno along with WarGods org he finds that this is an easy money fight that he could make a quick buck at, all he has to do is pull a “Bo Cantwell” and take a dive after 16seconds and futher destroy his legacy for the quick buck. Hell whynot, right? And that is the thing that I don’t get. Dan Severen (UFC HOF) is still fighting in local shows and making a living doing what he wants to do, and nobody is watching him destroying his carrer because he doesn’t do dumb shhh like this. If Shammy Shamm were to fight every month and not make a horror movie out of his carrer everyone would still be saying he was a legend rather than a shamm… It truly is sad, and all jokes aside I hope that Lashley doesnt kill him in the cage, but I guess this “is a test” for Lashley, if you would like to justify this attempt for attention by Shammy Shamm as such…. O and truthfully this isn’t Mir v Lesnar I, I don’t even want to begin to explain how this fight is soo very different than that fight was, and it won’t end in the same fashion either
You basically got a lot of my thoughts into that. I definitely think that Lashley will be mopping the floor with Shammy Shamm, but if he doesn’t… that’s not a good thing for his career.
On the other hand, I actually do care about Petruzelli v. Marshall, and Nelson v. Monson, which I expect Petruzelli and Monson each to win their fights.
oh my gosh! lashley is gonna mop the floor with shammy
why shammy you finally got a win and no you have to try and fight a future mma hw star… why
who are they gonna put shamrock up against next. Fedor? man this is just retarted Ken better hope he head butts somebuddy again before this fight. hell maybe thats his problem to many blows to the head. Oh well maybe lashley will get his name out there and can fight brock. but they have to come out to their old wwe music do leg drops power bombs
WHHHHHYYYYY!!!!!
Oh well atleast we will be able to see the long over due retirement of The world {self Proclaimed} dangerous man!!!
dang fr702 you hit the nail on the head. shammy is gonna be at a weight and beast advantage. lashley is a monster physically, however he isnt the next hw star. he is very raw. I wonder what the hell shammy is thinking. thankfully he didnt fight kimbo and take the risk of elevating kimbo’s career. shammy I will headbutt you a day from the fight. just fly me out, and ill do that, then we can go drink at a bar and start barfighting. hopefully shammy could win a bar fight, I doubt he will win any more mma fights. jeez this is a terrible move on shammy’s part. his management should have talked him out of this.
I think he is his management… :/
one word…why…
Honestly this is just painful to watch. It really makes me think of Dale Murphy(Atlanta Braves great). Dale Murphy was a 7x All-Star, 5x old glove winner, 4x Silver slugger winner, and a 2x MVP during the ’80’s who if he retired in ‘88 would be in the HOF instead he didn’t until ‘93(after playing 5 lackluster seasons) and is now still sitting on the outside of the Hall looking in.
Point is if Ken retires after quitting against Ironhead(never was the same after leaving for whatever the hell they call that crap McMahon puts on) we remember him as a legend w/ a 24-6-2 record…now he’s become a punchline(no pun intended) with 27-13-2 record. It’s just sad to see a guy wins over legends like Bas Rutten(twice), Dan Severn, and legendary matches w/ Oleg and Royce(2nd time) become a joke. I cannot even watch him anymore.
Thx BigChris and Justin appreciated for seeing what I was attempting to say..
Im going to stick my neck out and say Shamrock via sub. This could go very similar to Brock Lesnars UFC debut, I know Shamrock is no Frank Mir but the lack of experience could be a major factor. Although it would be good to witness Shamrock get beat down again, this will be a HW contest yeah?
Considering Lashley weighs (at least) 265 lbs, I think it is safe to say this is a HW match up.
Wow, it looks like Kens confidence got inflated with a lackluster win over some fat heffer. This isn’t a good match-up for Lashley either as if he wins (most likely will) what does he gain? A win over Ken Shamrock far out of his prime? This isn’t really good for anything.
poor, poor Ken Shamrock. Lashley is a fantastic wrestler (not pro guys,)and his size/speed/stamina makes him another Brock Lesnar. I think that those things alone are going to carry him to huge lengths. I see him eventually being in the UFC to challenge Brock.
This is an excellent challenge for a very new Bobby Lashley. Shamrock see’s an opportunity to make some noise in the MMA world and he’s taking it. A win over Lashley in March not only gives Ken back his legitimacy but can set up a HUGE match between Frank and Ken.
I’m with Ken all the way on this one.
we give ken a lot of crap about his legacy etc…well maybe he needs money? i really cant fault him for continuing to get paid to beat nobodies/lose to somebodies…i feel bad for the guy, but maybe he cant support himself without fighting (how long has it been since a lion’s den fighter held a title).
If he can’t live off what his gym brings in, he needs to go to rehab to get off the drugs. His name (if he hadn’t become such a punching bag) would have sustained him
OH COOMMMEE OOOONNN!!!
Don’t think I saw a follow-up, does anyone know what happened in the Monson domestic violence case? Or even the tagging a Federal building case?
Lashley should have tried to get a match-up between Nelson or Monson, not Shammy.
Haven’t heard anything at all about his legal troubles but they’ve either been settled or delayed to the point that they’re not affecting his fight schedule.
Keep in mind this is only his second fight and we all saw what happened to Lesnar, a former wrestler who jumped up in competition a little too soon. Destroying a legend like Shamrock, no matter how bad he’s been in recent years, will be a good stepping stone to bigger fights later this year.
Thanks for the update on Monson Kris. I know I shouldn’t dog this fight, just not appealing to me, but could be to other MMA fans.
Im interested in the fight..monson vs roy nelson is a great fight in my opinion…monson by sub round 2
Nice match made by Vince McMahon. =) But seriously, its a good way to have Lashley’s name out there, by killing the so called “legend” Of Shamrock. I just hope he doesnt get subbed by Kenny.
Personally, I’d rather see Shamrock fight The Undertaker…that said, go Lashley!
*Quick Shamrock observation…a buddy of mine said the he looks like the guy behind the pizza counter…can anyone else picture him flipping pizza pies??
For all those who are not aware of Lashley’s talents……….he has been training with ATT for 9 months now and the guy is a NCAA wrestler.
If you know anything about MMA, you know that ATT is one of the best camps out there for producing all around great fighters…….I don’t see Ken walking out of the cage after this!!!
Unfortunatly for Ken, his legend was tainted by signing on with Vince McMahon…………after that he was a bum!!!
