Koscheck vs. Wilson Rumored For UFC 98
It was already reported earlier this week that Josh Koscheck would be making another quick turnaround, and returning to action in May at UFC 98. This was in spite of the fact that a rumored bout with Karo Parisyan had fallen through due to Parisyan’s drug related suspension. Though the agreements have not yet been signed, it has been reported by MMAMania that his opponent has been lined up, in the form of Chris Wilson.
Koscheck is coming off of a disputed early knockout loss to UFC Paulo Thiago last week in London. The May fight will be his fourth fight in only six months, and sixth in just over a year. His opponent, Wilson, is also coming off of a loss. Wilson lost via unanimous decision against John Howard at UFC 94 in January, in a bout that earned “Fight of the Night” honors on decision filled card.
UFC 98 is slated to be headlined by a heavyweight title unification bout between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, and also feature the long awaited grudge match between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes. For more information and rumors about UFC 98, visit our UFC 98 Rumors page.

Wilson’s striking is pretty descent, kos should look to take this one to the ground and do what fitch did to him. Although heil likely just stand and bang he seems pretty contempt on doing that these days.
Koscheck… Man this guy would probably fight his mom! I think he fights more than anyone and on the shortest notice. I would like to see him win this fight. Like it was already said take it to the ground and it should be a fairly easy fight I think… Wait that’s what he thought his last fight although he didn’t try to take him.
I think that loss was good for Koscheck. He really needs to work towards his strengths more. Kos hasn’t been a dominant GnP fighter (except his fight with Lyttle) for too long. He has opted to stand and bang with everyone he fights, pretty much since he TKO’d Johnathan Goullet. While Kos is fast, and he has a really powerful right hand, you know for a fact that he is going to throw the over-hand right every single exchange. And all it is going to take is for someone to work on the counter for that. His stoppage in his last fight I believe was too early, maybe Thiago would have jumped on him and TKO’d him following those punches, maybe not, but the fact is Paulo Thiago is a horrible striker and he KO’d Kos (arguably).
Kos took Lyttle to the ground and demolished him. He did that because Chris Lyttle is a great striker! Why does Koscheck feel the need to vary from that style? It’s exciting, it’s aggressive, He sat in Lyttles half-guard and demolished his face! And more importantly it is Kos’s strength and he is really dominant from that position. He needs to quit trying to KO everyone he sees and maybe, just maybe, that KO loss reminded him that he is a better wrestler than boxer.
I think Kosceck is “trying” to become the next Liddell. Use wrestling to keep it standing and knock his opponents out. The difference is Liddell never looked for the KO, it just came. The only time Liddell looked for the KO was when he fought Evans. Need I say more?
