I have Heath taking this fight. Herring isn’t all that bad against wrestlers, and he’s extremely hard to finish. His loss to O’Brien was due in part to an ACL injury that he had repaired after the fight, and Cain tends to like to throw leather, which for a LOT of HW’s doesn’t work out to their advantage against Herring. I think in this fight if Herring avoids making it a kickboxing match and fights a boxing/take down defense style he should pull out a victory.

I wonder about the HW division…Would the winner of Cain/Heath fight the winner of Gonzaga/Carwin for a shot at the winner of Brock/Mir, or is it still too early for that discussion? I would think that Gonzaga or Carwin could qualify for a shot after one more fight…Carwin being the dark horse since he’s only done so amazing in smaller promos and may get stagefright.

I know that the judges had Randy winning against Lesnar in R1 of their fight. But seriously? Lesnar pushed Randy more, His take-down had more control and damage done then Randy’s did. I don’t see at all how Randy won R1 other than for the fact that he was Randy…MAYBE you could use the argument “to beat the champ you have to BEAT the champ” for R1 of their fight? But seriously that has never been the case in MMA fights. Lesnar won that round.

I totally agree and was going to say the same thing, Herring = Gatekeeper. That happens though to a veteran MMA fighter that doesn’t have the ability anymore for a title shot. Unfortunately they become stepping stones for the new guys.
