In the second bout of the UFC Fight Night 29 fight card, welterweights Rousimar Palhares and Mike Pierce squared off in the Octagon. In the end, Palhares would come away with the victory with a solid display of BJJ.
Palhares Heel Hooks Pierce
In tonight’s second fight, Rousimar Palhares would secure a victory via the most expected of fashions with a heel hook victory over Mike Pierce. Pierce made the mistake of igniting the ground exchanges and while he tried to back out, it was too late as Palhares was able to slap on one of signature finishes. The victory snaps a two-fight losing streak and marks a successful welterweight debut for Palhares while Pierce sees his four-fight win streak snapped as well.
Rd. 1- Keith Peterson is our referee. Pierce storms forward with a wild striking attack that allows Palhares to attack the legs. Pierce works up but Palhares drops to a heelhook and Pierce is immediately forced to tap. The referee stops the bout a bit incorrectly but Palhares definitely held it longer than needed.
